I was an adjunct professor at Lassell College from 2009 to 2013, in the fashion department. It was an amazing experience. The students were extremely talented and motivated. The technology was state of the art and included a technology help center for students and faculty.
Lassell then upgraded to a University with Master’s Programs. I believe this transition has been a great boost to bring more students from around the world to study at a small, community focused University in Newton, Massachusetts just outside of Boston, one the great centers of education in the United States.
Lasell is a modern campus nestled in an historic town with lots of history. For someone coming to Lasell for the first time you’ll know that dorms or state of the art, the campus is walkable. Nature is everywhere. It’s easy to ride a bike to Boston along the Charles River Trail. You can ride the trail from Walltham to Cambridge. It is a wonderful asset to living in Newton. There are lots of cute shops in Newton and it is an easy commute to Boston for cultural events and great restaurants. If you are young, and considering Lasell University, as a possibility, you will not be disappointed. In fact, you will be surrounded by like-minded people and professors who care about you. There is a great support staff for students who need extra attention help, or mentoring. The surrounding towns offers sport activities, cultural activities, and also other colleges and universities with which to connect to as a student. Brandeis University is just a few miles away in Waltham and also offers classes for students with specific disciplines.
Outdoorsy types as well really like all of Massachusetts. There are so many easy hikes just miles away. You have the Charles River to do rollerblading bike riding walking. There is a kayak launch, not far from campus, that you can book excursions on the Charles River.
For those students who do not want to live on campus, there are many opportunities to book a room in a home, that is not usually advertised, but you may be able to find out from your campus advisor. Waltham has many apartments for rent if you want a roommate that might be a good close place be if you have a car. I lived in Waltham as a professor and loved it. Finally, I just want to say that if you are considering a smaller university with great services and many activities to do outside of college, and the opportunity to be within a broader educational academic community which is Boston., Lasell University should be considered a top choice for your...
Read moreI chose Lasell because of the amazing Education Program! Lasell offers experience all 4 years, meaning that beginning my second semester of Freshman Year I was able to get experience working with students. As an Elementary Education major this was so important to me. I want to gain as much experience as possible with an incredible support team behind me as I continue to go on my journey to become a General Education Classroom Teacher. Additionally, I have been able to make amazing connections with faculty due to our smaller class sizes. I have been able to work closely with professors and create relationships with them (I am not just a number on the roster!) Here at Lasell I have been able to find my place! I am a Peer Tutor in our Academic Achievement Center, a Blue Key Society Student Ambassador, an honors student, and Vice President of a club on campus (Empty Bowls Club)! Overall, I can't imagine being at any...
Read moreI can't wait to tell people about my experience here at Lasell College once I graduate! It has been an honor to meet everyone here on campus and get to know them on personal levels. I truly feel ready for the working world because of the classes I've taken and the professors help. The dorms that I have lived in for the past four years have been fantastic! They really made me feel safe and at home here on campus. I played a sport here on campus too and that even made my experience here even more enjoyable. Traveling around the MA area is also great. We are in-between two T-stations which is a quick and easy train ride into Boston which allows for a lot of fun activities. I give this school a grading of an A because it was truly an amazing experience and I will miss it dearly...
