Ward 4 — Restaurant in Newton

We went on a Friday evening. Reservation is definitely recommended. The place was packed. One of our party has a disability and travels with a service animal. We had to wait awhile as we didn't have a reservation. The staff were very accommodating and gave us a table at the rear of the restaurant that is both quieter and more spacious for the animal.

The menu had all kinds of interesting things.

We ordered Poutine. It looked a little different because the cheese curds were melted, but tasted fantastic. The grave was to die for. Next time I will try the truffle fries. It smelled soooo good. We also had the prosciutto wrapped pears. It was not as exciting as expected. Pear is a very mild fruit, so the flavor was over powered by the prosciutto.

Will definitely return to try other items.

I gave the atmosphere a 4 instead of 5 because it is a bit loud. Then again, most sports bars are. There was a group celebrating a birthday in the dining room and it was difficult to ignore...

The service was ridiculous. We were taken to our tables and they were dirty and not ready we asked them to clean them since we have an allergy kiddo. After they cleaned the waitress came by to take our orders and we were very clear abiut food allergies. Every item we ordered she came back 5 mins later telling us has allergens. Finally after getting frustrated we asked her to go ask what would be safe to eat based on the childs allergies and she provided options. The food took forever to come when it came the friea were burnt not brown, black ! They were refried. I had to ask for silverware and plates. The food was tasteless. The slaw in the fish tacos was bitter ( probably bitter purple cabbage) not sure if the chef had tasted this before it was served. Friendly atmosphere with a cool old style bar. Greeting at the door was exceptional and the lady checked in with us multiple times during the night. The owner made a point of chatting too, big fan of himself and his menu - which is fine if it stands up to it. Ordered the Short Rib which was a chore to eat; rib was over done, Brussels were tough and the risotto was a pool of under done mess - no surprise obviously as it came out rather quickly. We ordered cocktails and one of them tasted like drinking perfume - it was awful. We weren’t check on so no opportunity to feedback and the server didn’t seem to think a full cocktail at the end of the meal was a red flag?
