This museum has a superpower, throwing engaging outdoor events. First it was The Featival of the Moon with a massive replica of the moon taking up most of a city block as Indigenous people performed sacred ritual dances. More recently, Fantastic Planet with three enormous inflatable beings and a dance troupe performing in the street at night. If you ever see an event happening there GO. Do not hesitate. While visiting the new Barry Art Museum located at the entrance of Old Dominion University's campus, I found free parking in the bottom of the parking garage adjacent to the museum. Once inside you are greeted by beautiful architecture that showcases a Chihuly chandelier. There are four galleries that showcases primarily glass art but the collection also includes paintings and one gallery is dedicated to antique dolls and automatons. My favorite exhibit was the doll house that was converted from a liquor cabinet. It blew me away! The details and the craftsmanship of the furniture were REALLY top-notch!
