La Herradura Mexican Restaurant & Cantina — Restaurant in Norfolk

I do really enjoy coming to this restaurant, Oscar my personal fav server, he is an amazing and always makes my experiences a 10/10. But with the service I received tonight (April 22nd at 8pm) I am hesitant to come back. My friend and I came in as usual, and were sat by a guy, he gave us menus and said our server would be with us soon. We waited, no issues there, and when our server did come, she was very rude. Only stating "Im your server, what do you want". We gave her our drink order and she came back with them not long after and walked away without asking if we were ready to order food or if we needed more time. She proceeded to sit in a booth not too far from us, while on facetime. I understand that people need breaks and during that time they can do as they please, but why would she take a table if she was on break? My friend and I had to flag down the male server to take our food order and he also brought it out to us. Our original server never checked on us or anything throughout our meal. We had to flag down the male server again so we could pay to leave, which was not an issue because he was not our server. We wanted to leave him a tip because he had done a majority of the work for our table. But once the female server saw that he had our checkbooks, she got up and seemed to be arguing with him. I ended up not leaving a tip because he didn't want it and I was not going to tip the girl because she did not serve myself...

In all honesty I hate my money was wasted at this place. The food, I got fajitas texanas, was cooked but lukewarm once it reached my table. On the menu it says made with onions and peppers, which is fine if I didn't enjoy those I'd simply ask for them to take it out when i ordered however once I received my food there was ground up, like in a blender, green peppers poured over all of my meat. Which I disliked and wasn't informed that that would be across my food, and when I asked what it was I was told and then basically told to pick it off by my server. I'm not one to complain back to a waiter if my food isn't exactly what i ordered; however I have an issue with my server when I am not eating my food and instead of asking the person, me, who wasn't eating it because she disliked it he proceeds to ask my date "oh she no like it" and when I answer saying no I don't but it's fine ans you proceed to shake your head back and forth as if saying no or in disbelief we have a problem. When we sat down he asked what we wanted for drinks and proceeded to take fifteen minutes in bringing them, when there was only one other table in the restaurant at his section. He also never refilled our drinks upon request and he never refilled out chips, white sauce, or salsa even though we requested it. All in all don't go if you want good Mexican food and good service. Great place to train your patience. Went there with my fiance for a date night. The hostess sat a party of 12 before us, even though we got there before them. Food took about 20 min to arrive. The waiter couldn't speak English and got my order wrong. Waiter wasn't around to refill my drink or chips and salsa, or ask if we needed anything, not even once. As soon as I got my food I asked him to take the enchilada back because it had cheese on it and I had specifically asked for no cheese. I said I didn't need a replacement, that I would just eat the rest of the combo and for them to just take it from the check (by then I was already full from eating chips for 20 min). When he brought our check we asked him why he was charging me for the whole combo and didn't take out the enchilada. He couldn't understand but felt defensive enough to be rude to us. We asked to please talk to the manager and the manager said he was going to take care of it. But 10 min later they came back saying nothing was wrong with the check, with a TERRIBLE attitude. So we paid for the whole thing and left because that whole experience had already ruined the evening. Don't waste your time, unless you are in some kind of patience training. Lol.
