If you're looking for one or the many gorgeous green-blue lakes in Washington, this is not for you. However, if you're looking for an intermediate easy hike that's less crowded and dog friendly, this is perfect! It's an interesting hike. You start off walking under and past the ski lifts and then make your way through a meadow of wildflowers (beautiful now in July) with stark mountains to your left. And then it gets tricky because the path forks with no signage at a pallet. You want to go right and then make an immediately left. You'll walk through some dense vegetation (somewhat torny so wear hiking pants) and then Beaver Lake will be on your right. It'll now be your classic PNW trail with the dirt and rocky path. Google maps also doesn't have the Lodge Lake access correct as it's about a 1/4 mi past it once you see a giant fallen tree to your left (impossible to miss) and a small bridge in front, but don't go past the bridge. It gets muddy near the lake and you walk through a bit of water at one point in the trail, so boots are highly recommended, but sneakers would also be fine. It was exactly the difficulty my husband and I were looking for and a nice change of pace. Don't forget to bring your mask until the pandemic is over as it's narrow for most of the trail! Taking off a star for the lack of signs and the lake access sign being brown on a tree - easy to miss!

Have skied on these slopes for decades, but have actually never been here. Walking on the trails and hillsides when the snows were gone and the mountain was covered in flowers. Such an incredibly cool experience, but sadly, one where I was looking for a very specific mushroom that is number one on my bucket list and was still unable to find. It. It. Absolutely sure that it would be here. Sigh😥

Hiked the trail with two little ones in early July. The trail is not very well marked and is muddy and overgrown at parts. The trail does give a variety of terrain experiences - wooded and alpine, but I think there are better trails with a more rewarding destinations to be had in the area and around Denny Creek.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Must-Do Snowshoeing Adventure for Beginners!

I had an amazing experience snowshoeing on the Pacific Crest Trail with the ranger-guided Discovery Walk—a perfect option for beginners! The tour lasted 2.5 hours and offered a fantastic way to explore the winter landscape in a safe and engaging way.

Things to Know: ✔️ Book in Advance – This tour is very popular and requires reservations months ahead. ✔️ Location & Parking – Park at Snoqualmie Pass West Exit. Parking can be tough, but the best option is under the I-90 bridge and then walk to EVO, where the ranger station is located. ✔️ Free Gear Provided – They supply MTS-branded snowshoes at no extra cost! ✔️ Scenic Trails – While it doesn’t necessarily follow the Sumner Trail, it takes you through breathtaking, snow-covered areas nearby.

The rangers were knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience truly special with insights about the environment and wildlife. If you’re looking for an unforgettable snowshoeing adventure in the area, this is one of the best! Highly recommend it!

Would definitely do it...

Passing through we looked for a quick, easily accessible (not too far off the 90) hike and came across this and gave it a try.

There is plenty of parking at the trailhead.tge ski slopes were pretty with all the green and wildflowers. There was a tricky spot trying to locate the trail in one spot on the slopes. It was when you get to the tree that has the 90 posted on it. The trail just to the right of the tree and is hidden because of the vegetation growth. But, once you find it, it is obvious that it is the trail.

We stopped briefly at Beaver Lake which had beautiful reflections but the mosquitos quickly found us! Shortly after Beaver Lake. The trail descends to Lodge Lake.

A nice 4 mile round trip. As we were coming out at 9am, there were lots of people heading...
