My wife bought us tickets to go to some sort of Snow Slide nearby. I did not understand the concept entirely til we arrived. It was suppose to snow but it decided to rain the entire time. Which turned the scenic winter wonderland experience into a some sort of absurd social experiment in who can suffer from frostbite the longest. Good times. But what made everything ok was The Summit Pancake House. (Insert celebratory horns here)
Obviously when you dine at any establishment with the name "PANCAKE HOUSE" you order the obvious.
Fish and Chips. Because that what I did.
We had a large party and we ran the gambit of the menu though. We were a 12 top dying of frost bite and in desperate need of sustenance. Among us we had 6 children and they easily accommodated us on a Sunday late afternoon. The menu predictable Americana and I mean that with the utmost respect. It's apart of the American Dream to know you can get Pancakes in the middle of mountains of Washington State while also almost freezing to death just a mile down the road. My Fish and chips by the way? Perfect. A satisfactory facsimile of the American opinion of a popular and celebrated British dish. Two square pieces fried square fish, and 'Murican freedom fries with the best tartar sauce I have had since 9th grade. Being the Alpha Father that I am it is my responsibility to eat everyone's left overs to insure that every dollar is not wasted and that our glorious chefs know we are grateful. I will cover the items quickly
Pancakes are great. Even cold. Benedict, delicious. Even if some heathen covers it ketchup. Coffee. Brown water. But my preference is black tar with cream. Something that i believe was hashbrowns. Potato perfection.
Overall if you find yourself out in the Pass questioning how you spend your free time and you come across SUMMIT PANCAKE HOUSE AND LOUNGE. It would be to your benefit...
Read moreWow. Where to start. There wasn’t anything even remotely acceptable. I haven’t had a meal this bad in…well, this was the worst I can remember. We were the only customers, and I see why. Dirty dishes on one table through much of our meal. And then instead of cleaning the table, it was “dusted” with a dry cloth. Not sanitized. When we got up to leave, we noticed crumbs on almost all the tables.
Now. To the food. I ordered the classic turkey sandwich, the old diner fare, open faced with turkey gravy and mash. And the menu said it included soup or salad. I forgot. Neither was offered. It is hard to screw this sandwich up, but boy was this bad. Turkey was re-fried and dry. Thin brittle slices. Very little gravy on exceptionally dry toast. And two pieces of toast, so the concept of “open face” was lost. And for some inexplicable reason, they were cut in half.
Potatoes were reheated paste with a little dab of gravy. And again, no offer of soup or salad.
Which is fine with me, my wife ordered teriyaki. Almost no sauce and the chicken was cooked to the point she was picking rocks off the side. The rice was not fresh, microwaved to make it sort of warm.
And the “salad.” Vegetables were clearly cut days ago. Dry. One cucumber slice was rotted when she turned it over and…
…not a drop or any dressing. Raw rotting vegetables.
We have been coming here off and on for years and will never come back.
Oh, and when we were served food without silverware, the response to “we need silverware” was “I know.” It was too much trouble to ensure that we had silverware before being served the worst meals we can remember.
And never checked back, taking on the phone the entire time. And we think he didn’t check back because anyone who has ever eaten would see that what they brought us was too expensive if it were being given away for...
Read moreWe waited over 10 minutes for the waitstaff to attend to us. We watched as she had a 10 minute chat with the a co-worker instead of attending to her tables. It really was not busy with only 5 tables sat and a few of which were already served. When we checked out at the end we were overcharged on all of the items we ordered based on the menus we were given at the table. My husband did not catch it before he paid so I pointed it out. The wait staff member went to get the manager. The manager was not apologetic and instead of crediting us the amount we were overcharged, he told us that they were changing the prices and that the waitstaff member should have informed us. Not once we were informed that price were higher than those stated on the menu. I can imagine that they might do a slight increase but they charged us double what the kids’ meals were shown to cost on the kid’s menu. The chicken fingers and fries were shown to cost $6.99 a piece on the menu we were given. We ordered two and were charged $25.98. Instead of apologizing for the mistake and honoring the difference we were overcharged, the manager proceeded to blame us that we should have checked the menu on the QR code. At no time were we ever told to check the QR code menu. The service was awful, the customer service was awful, the food is nothing to rave about. We have eaten here numerous times when we are in the area but based on this experience we will not...
