Love this park really. Visit it every other week almost. My reason for the 2 stars though is the New Children's Play Ground. It's a Great place!! I love it really!! Was going to bring my grandson over to play till I seen a father of a child also had a dog in the play area!! Taking a dump and didn't bother to clean it up! Just took the child and dog and left! Watched on another day as a few crossed the play area with leashed pets stopped, crapped, pissed and continued on. Sure they cleaned the diarrhea up best they could but how do they honestly get all of it? Last play area was fenced with signs. Why isn't this one? Service animals I understand and I do mean " Service Animals in Vests" not those people claim to be! ""Response Back" While I myself also like the openesop of the playground, in reality, the safety of the children is in my opinion the ultimate goal. When dealing with owners that don't care to clean up after their pet's or even bring their pet's on the playground just to cross it and do clean up. They can never really clean up all of it. How man small children have toys that will roll across that and end up in their mouths. Or simply fall on it? And yes I understand that parents should be right there watching their children, but they don't always! And if we know that to be true then why would we want to take chances knowing pet owners are just as bad if not worse? Just my opinion. Thank you...
Read moreThe lake and park area itself was great, the shelter we rented out was very clean and had ample trash receptacles set up and bathrooms right next to it. My only complaint is that I wish they had a map in the park or at least told me when booking a shelter where it was located. Shelters 1-5 are located in the same circle and are very easy to find but we spent 30 mins trying to find shelter 6. We were finally able to find a ranger who could tell us it’s in a separate part of the park, several minutes down the road. No signage to note this and no information in the original shelter booking. Nothing online either so putting it here for anyone who rents shelter 6 in the future: 56 Fisherman’s Trail is the address to put in your GPS. You’ll find it instantly with that address but otherwise you’ll be driving in circles. Aside from that getting us off to a bad start, the rest was great! East rental process online and a nice shelter with ample room...
Read moreTonight at 8:06pm, myself and a friend of mine were in the process of unloading our canoe out of the water onto a safe spot on the top of the vehicle. We were then accosted by two people telling us to hurry up or they were going to call the police on us. Mind you we were in the process of carrying a 250 lb canoe and trying to strap it to the roof of the car on the boat ramp. After about 20 minutes of being disrespected, eventually one of the employees, tried to antagonize a confrontation by calling us "tough guys" and asking if we wanted to do anything about it. Someone that works for this company needs to make sure that the employees know that it's a public park that closes at a certain time and not to jeopardize the safety of its guests. I have a yearly pass boat launch permit. A veteran, and also a yearly fishing pass owner. If treatment like this continues, I won't be able to visit my favorite...
