On Friday December 9th around 6:30 my spouse and I were attempting to have a Poke bowl at one of our favorite places in the Asheville area. There was nobody else in the restaurant at the time of our arrival except us and the two employees “working” at the time. We entered through the main entrance, and saw the two employees on their phones. One young person leaned up on a table next to the drink station, and another young person in the kitchen next to some appliances. We stood waiting to be attended to for 5+ minutes, and eventually decided that the employee’s time on their phones was too valuable to be interrupted so we left and took our business elsewhere for the evening as to not to disturb the employees on duty at the time of our arrival.
I called the next day, December 10, around 12:30 to alert proper management of the goings on in their store the night before. I asked for the manager on duty at the moment and was asked “who is speaking” to which I replied, “a concerned customer”. The party answering the phone stated that they could help me with my concern and did not put me on with the manager/owner to which I requested. I was informed that the answering party was one of the employees on duty at the time of our arrival the night before. They offered their apologies and stated that it was themselves and the owner on duty last night. I found this to be untruthful or incredibly shocking that someone who looked no older than 20 could own a location such as this establishment at that age.
The answering party then attempted to offer a free meal to us to which I declined. If the owner of the restaurant was truly on duty the night we attended they do not need my business at this store. We will not be returning. It is...
Read moreI was a little torn on how to rate this meal. Everything about it was delicious; the ingredients were extremely fresh, a good selection of ingredients to choose from when constructting your dish, staff was nice, and so on. The reason it isn't a slam dunk 5 stars is I got a tofu bowl, and the tofu was uncooked. Cut up diced tofu, but not cooked at all, raw. For anyone who eats tofu, you get it. Can't say I've seen tofu served raw in 15-20 years of eating tofu. I didn't notice it on the ingredients bar and once I got it, the bowl was so fresh and the other ingredients so good, I powered through the raw tofu, and overall it was fine.
Would have been a 6 stars out of 5 if tofu was cooked/grilled/fried/prepared. Would like to go back and try them again to see if it was just an oversight and change my review to a 5 star, but I'm a little hesitant to go spend the money just to find out. I wish there was a 3.5 stars because 3 seems almost too low, but for those who don't eat tofu, imagine going to McDonald's and the chicken nuggets you get aren't fully cooked.
Meal with a drink was about $15. Nice...
Read moreEmployee was rude, didn’t listen to me and what I wanted and made me something totally different and had an attitude about it. I was just trying to order a poke bowl and choose my ingredients but he forged on making me an ahi tuna bowl, not what I ordered, as he chatted up the customer in front of me. I was so confused as to whom he was making this for because he was adding all sorts of ingredients I didn’t ask for. Maybe what he was making was for a to go order ahead of mine? I simply ordered the rice base and the ahi tuna protein and from there I had no say. When I tried to question it at the end he was like “this is how I make the ahi tuna bowl”. I paid and walked away with it awkwardly because he was clearly being dismissive of me and didn’t take the cue to maybe question weather he misunderstood me. I had my boyfriend take it back for a refund because the guy was so rude and I ended up with no food and just wanting to leave. He rudely told my boyfriend “she can come back and order what she wants face to my face”...
