On Dec. 23rd 2018 our family of four including myself ,husband both age 35, our son age 14 and daughter age ten took part in the adventure which is the heritage land rover tour at biltmore. We arrived in the morning and were greeted by the front office staff who were very welcoming. We then met Ben who would be our instructor for the day. For the morning we were in a 1997 D90 no.4 off the line that year. To say we put the defender through its paces was an understatement. As an owner of an International scout and a vintage k5 i was not expecting the rover to be nearly as able as it was. A big part of that though was the instruction from Ben. With his instruction we were safely able to get through obstacles i never would have tried before. Upon returning home i plan to be way more adventerous with our vechicles. After the morning session we had a delicious lunch which Ben joined us for which was great because we were able to talk more freely than when traversing obstacles and terrors. He answered many technical questions from my husband and countless personal questions from my daughter who is nosy to the least. In the afternoon we took out a diesel range rover which honestly i viewed as a carpool vehicle more than an off roader. Well after spending 4 hours behind the wheel i am convinced that the range rover is the way better option when compared to the vintage defender. Traveling over many of the same obstacles seemed like cheating it was so easy. Even with street tires at 40psi the rover walked through the obstacles with ease. I was positive we would rip the front bumper off but the vehicle had options for everything and proved itself on the trails. Overall it was a great day that days later our kids are still talking about. It was a privelage to drive a piece of Land Rover history and a pleasure to have Ben spend the day with our family. My only recommendation would be to add an option so that when you are staying on the property for multiple days you could have access to a rover with special designated parking areas so when visiting Biltmore attractions you would not need the use of the shuttle and could park...
Read moreWe recently had the incredible opportunity to experience the Land Rover Off-Road Driving Experience, and it far exceeded our expectations! From the moment we arrived, the professionalism and expertise of the instructors were apparent. They provided a thorough orientation, ensuring we were comfortable and confident before taking on the rugged terrain.
The vehicles themselves were a thrill to drive—luxurious yet rugged, with impressive handling and power. The real magic began when we hit the trails. The Land Rover’s ( we drove a Range Rover Sport) advanced off-road technology truly shone as we tackled steep inclines, rocky paths, and even water crossings with ease. The instructor Alister guided us through each challenge, offering valuable tips on vehicle control and terrain navigation, making the whole experience both educational and exhilarating.
The scenery was breathtaking, and the routes were carefully selected to offer a perfect blend of adventure and safety. By the end of the day, we had gained a new appreciation for what these vehicles are capable of. This experience is perfect for both seasoned drivers and beginners alike. If you're looking for a mix of luxury, adventure, and pure driving pleasure, the Land Rover Off-Road Driving Experience is an...
Read moreI would like to thank Alistar for excellent instruction and the opportunity to drive a Land Rover Defender in the off-road course. It was one of the top experiences I have had in a vehicle. There was some briefing to describe some key terms in off-road driving, as well as continual feedback from the instructor. My wife even elected to drive for part of the course, which is a testament to the professionalism and the ability to instill confidence by the instructor staff. We were able to see views of the Biltmore Estate which are difficult to access and reminded us that the well-manicured grounds are just a small portion of what Biltmore has to offer. There muddy and treacherous terrain that we navigated with ease. Thank you Checkered Flag Land Rover, Mike Woods, Clayton Moats, and Alistar for...
