I applied to this college because I'm new to the area and looking to complete my master's at a college that aligns with my personal values. I thought CSU was it, but boy was I wrong. They act like they care about students, but all they care about is money.
I was admitted into a program and automatically enrolled, without asking to be registered for courses or signing an intent to enroll form. Books were automatically shipped to my previous address and I didn't know until much later. This left me with a balance with the school even though I never intended to enroll, I dropped the course, and my account statement NEVER reflected book charges, only $1,950 for tuition.
Unfortunately, my statement never reflected a scholarship either. It wasn't until AFTER I dropped the course and reached out to financial aid about the balance that they responded with a screenshot of my account with itemization that I learned of the $1,000 credit and the book fee. Had they made this information clear, perhaps I wouldn't have had to drop the course. I never got an email notifying me of the award and it didn't reflect on my balance. Now, I have numerous emails blaming their "staff shortage" for the miscommunication and errors. Leaving me with a bill for a class and books that I didn't ask to be registered for because of staff shortage errors is unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. It's a mess.
When selecting a college, find one with integrity and polite employees who are competent in their abilities. It'll save you the hassle of fighting unjust charges in a small...
Read moreI'm going to CSU next year, while I was in contact with the university and my enrollment counselor, it's annoying to get the things they required like the deposit and academic forms, I don't know if it's a requirement for all 4-year colleges if you were planning to be a resident but to me it's annoying. I rarely get in contact with my new enrollment counselor Shelby Sexton but from what I remember from October when you guys change your admission policy, I emailed you all asking what the academic reference form and I have to get a lot of things done by the end of the week at that time. I ended up got an email back from my enrollment counselor and she was rude, no greetings, just plain rude and I don't like rude people. Ever since it's too late to change my mind of going straight to Charleston Southern instead of going to Trident Tech first, I just have to keep thriving, If you guys who's thinking to go to CSU and was assigned to Shelby Sexton as your enrollment counselor, don't email her because she will take way too long to reply back and be rude in the email, just ask someone to help or answer your questions in the live chat on the CSU website. They replied right away and greet you nicely. And I wish I would just go back in time and apply to Trident Tech first then transfer to CSU, just like my mom did so that way I won't have to deal with all of this and have Ms. Sexton as my enrollment counselor again but the campus look pretty, I got to admit. Edit: two stars for being rude and didn't answer my 2 first questions, same goes to my...
Read moreThe admissions department is an absolute mess. Ever since the new VP, Tony Turner, took over the admissions department has had a toxic environment that has not only been harmful for employees but also incoming students and their families. Tony hasn’t been able to keep a director under his leadership and has continued to harass certain employees. He’s created an environment where integrity and hard work are less valued than aligning with his own narrative. His hiring practices have led to many concerns and led to this departments instability. Employees continue to face significant challenges, including overworked staff and unresolved leadership issues. I also observed unfair and immoral practices revolving scholarships. In some cases, students who did not meet certain criteria where awarded scholarships simply because they complained or caused a scene while others more deserving were overlooked. This lack of transparency and fairness further eroded distrust within the admissions office, Tony has consistently undervalued the expertise and integrity of his employees, even when staff provided evidence to clarify situations, Tony disregard them on a consistent basis. He is only interested in his own ideas and his own narratives. This undermined employee morale created an environment where staff felt under supported and devalued. I would strongly caution any student looking to go here, but more importantly, especially any employee looking to work in this department to...
