The staff here is very very dumb. I took off from work to attend an eclipse viewing event. Instead of giving out 1 pair of eclipse viewing glasses to each family on a first come first serve basis (like every other place in Miami), they decide to hold a raffle. They gave every person a ticket, (instead of one ticket per family) and say they'll start the raffle at 2:15. Meanwhile, the eclipse started at 1:36 and the peak time is 2:49. As they Start the raffle 45 minutes into the eclipse, they lose track of what numbers are called and winners can't even get their glasses! Then the police start yelling (at an already peaceful but anxious crowd who is missing the eclipse already) , and literally start screaming for people to "Back UP or they'll cancel the event. By 2:36, they'd only called 12 numbers out of 100, and even then only 8 of those people had gotten glasses. By that time I decided to just throw my "raffle ticket" in the trash and left the venue, and screaming police and incompetent staff of this library behind. I swear, I've never seen such complete incompetence. It's a wonder they can even read (and mind you they...
Read moreI visited this library a few days ago. This library is definitely the noisiest and dirtiest library that I’ve ever visited.
There were three teenagers and one adult woman (who is an employee there) knitting in the kids section while laughing and talking very loudly. Two other employees entered the room a few mins later and instead of asking for silence they started laughing even louder with them.
I was with my 7 y/o daughter and this is why I was at the kids section, after 30 mins of noise and loud talking I decided to move with her to the adults section. Then I saw this group of young friends playing music on their SPEAKER while talking and “doing hw”. Why would you play music on a speaker in a library, and why do employees allow this?
While trying to look for a table to sit with ny daughter, I couldn’t find one single clean table. They all had potato chip bags, food crumbs, there were plastic bottles on the floor and tissues around.
What kind of library is this?

Read moreThe worst library - they're just out to get the little people. I returned all my books after hours at their book drop outside and they claim they never got them back. Now they locked my card and are denying my children the opportunity to read. We're new to the area and if I would have known the library is this disorganized I would have had someone return the books in person. Disgraceful!!
UPDATE: I called the library about this, and apparently patrons are just supposed to KNOW that this library is not part of the MD County public library system like every other PUBLIC LIBRARY in every city I've lived in. They don't bother to tell new patrons that when you check out books here you must return it here. Doesn't say ANYTHING about this on their website, there is no notice hanging anywhere in the library about this, and the librarians didn't bother telling me when I got my card. Doesn't say anything about this on Google. Being a new resident of this city, I'm simply supposed to KNOW....
