I have been attending Bikram Yoga classes at this studio for the past three years, and I can confidently say that the only reason I have continued is because of the exceptional instruction of Anna Zakirova. She is a dedicated teacher who explains the precise sequence of poses, the reasoning behind them, and their importance. Bikram Yoga is a structured practice, and when you attend a Bikram Yoga class, you are expected to follow the instructorās guidance. While modifications are always allowed based on individual ability, practicing a completely different style of yoga within a Bikram class is disruptive to both the teacher and the students.
I was present during the class Janifer attended, and unfortunately, her behavior disrupted the flow of the entire session. Anna was simply trying to help Janifer understand the correct postures and maintain the structure of the class. When an entire class follows a specific sequence and one individual chooses to do something entirely different, it naturally affects the energy and focus of everyone in the room.
Annaās instruction is clear, professional, and supportive, and she has helped so many students, including myself, develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for Bikram Yoga. Thanks to her, I have remained committed to this practice.
I understand that everyone has different expectations and experiences, but publicly criticizing an instructor for doing their jobāensuring that the class maintains its structure and disciplineāis unfair. If you were looking for a more freestyle yoga class, a Bikram Yoga session may not have been the right choice.
I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to experience authentic Bikram Yoga under the guidance of a knowledgeable and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWorst instructor I have ever had. I have done yoga for years at various levels. I came in from out of tow and this was close to my Airbnb and the time I was looking for. I needed to destress, relax and unwind and what I experienced was opposite. Iāve had to make a lot of modifications this past year due to an injury, which I understand the she didnāt know. In fact, my friend and I are both dealing with an injury. She is recovering from foot surgery and Iām recovering my hip injury from sports. I felt singled out and bullied and it was the most stressful class I have ever attended. She said it was ok to make modifications, but when I did I was singled out. Class started 20min late and ran over 20+ minutes causing us to be late for our next appointment. We actually had to walk out after 20 minutes over the time, which is disruptive to the class. Iāve never had a yoga class start late and go over that late. The first class I take with an instructor is always a little harder as I try to learn their style, so I pause more and listen to them more. But I would NEVER return to her. The constant belittling misses the whole point of what yogaās purpose is. I left more stressed and tense then walking in. I wanted to walk out 10 minutes into the class for her scouring me in front of the entire class, but I kept thinking surely it would get better. I felt like she was upset that we attended her class the entire time. I couldnāt make a move without her making a comment. It felt like a schoolgirl getting scorned by the teacher. I was on edge the entire time and afraid to make any modification because I was told I was doing it wrong even though others in the class were doing the same modification. Worst experience with yoga...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe thought of stepping into a bikram yoga studio for the first time can feel very overwhelming. However when Gonzalo is the instructor, any anxiety you are feeling melts (literally) into a feeling of nervous excitement.
Throughout the class Gonza maintains an attentive eye on all of his students. His intention is to help each participant get the most out of a class, regardless of their experience level.
His instruction on how to enter and exit each yoga pose is very clear. He is also very diligent towards observing when beginners require assistance to correct their pose, or when more advanced students can extend more fully into their pose. Regardless of your level he is there to help, and will gently coax the best out of you with every class.
From his years of practicing and teaching, Gonza can easily recognize how to help a student progress in a way that challenges them and safely surprises them of their abilities.
You leave the class feeling as though you have accomplished something, and eager to return to see further improvement.
A session of bikram yoga is not an easy one, however in the company of Gonzalo, you feel very reassured that you are with an instructor who really cares about your progress.
