Great great, Park to go to. one of the best, parks in the area of North Miami, North Miami Beach, and basically, within 15 miles area. Great Trail hiking trails. Great place to go, with a large family, or group of friends. Lots and lots of parking. Definitely go early in the morning. Once parking, is full. They will stop receiving, people, in automobiles. You can still go, keep in mind, on your bicycles. Or walk in. But get ready for a long walk. So you can get to the Park area, and the lake that they have. It has a beautiful view, of the Bay. You can barbecue there. Mountain bike trails. There is camping also available. Ask at the Security toll entrance. For information, concerning camping. They will be very helpful. I go there with the wife, and the children, and grandparents, and some friends, every other weekend. It's a nice area, so there are plenty of nice local people, there. Very friendly. Of course, you will find your drunk people walking around. But it seems, that they are aware, that if they get too out of control, they will find themselves, in trouble with the local police departments. Please, keep all windows and doors locked. Don't leave any, valuables visible within your vehicle. You can have a great time, and a wonderful experience, if you just listen, to a couple tips, that I give most of my followers. When it comes to safety issues. I have to add this. Do not leave, children, I repeat children, in vehicles. Not even, for 30 seconds. The sun in South Florida, is very unforgiving. Plus if someone walks by, which will likely happen, cuz this park is very populated, a lot of activity, especially in parking lot. They will report it, to authorities. Remember you're going to a park, to have a good family day. Don't mess it up, for yourself and your family, Buy leaving a small child, in your car. Unattended. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Anyways back to the beauty of this park. There is lots of Wildlife. And I don't mean tigers and bears. Lol. Lol. There is a fishing area. Please inquire, with information and security booth at the main entrance. There is one way in, and one way out. Once again arrive early. The lines tend to get very very long, once you enter. Everyone has to check in, at security area please. There is a fee. For parking. People with disabilities, will be received, with open arms, and should not have to pay for parking. Try not to bring, any bottled beverages. We must conserve, nature, and keep it the way it's been, without polluting it with glass, and Plastics. A very family-friendly Park. Lots of mangrove trees. Red white and black. All along the waterways. There is a Sandy Lake area, next to, public restrooms, on the water, where you can sit down, and enjoy the water, while you get a nice Florida sun tan. If you need to pick up items. There is a great, Winn-Dixie, directly across the street from the park. There plenty of gas stations as well. There is a nice restaurant, at the corner of the parking lot, where Winn-Dixie is located. Very family orientated. You can have a great steak and potato and salad dinner, they also serve great seafood plates. You can sit inside, or outside dining, is available. Not too pricey. Especially for the quality of the food, and service. Remember to tip your table service. Have not been, to that restaurant in almost a year. But they do have a live music, area. Great great, for parties. Remember to call at least a week in advance. To confirm, reservations. They do cater to parties. Back to the park. Great place to go, with your partner, and just walk on the trails, and get your daily exercise. It will give you a nice natural mindset, for the day, walking through nature. Very very helpful for the spirit the body and the soul. I hope I was very helpful today. This is my goal. As a local guide Google Assistant. Please feel free,. To send me questions, or concerns. I will reply promptly. It's wonderful when one human being, can help another. To guide that person or persons, to a safe, journey, when it comes to dining, or outside, activities....
Read morePLEASE READ THIS COMMENT. Im in disbelief, sitting in my car festering in anger and embarrassment. I’ll try to relay the facts and leave any opinions and emotions out of what happened. I come here every single day if not every other day with my dogs. I brought my seven month old chipomsky who weighs seven pounds to the water area where there are kayaks. Dogs are allowed there. I wait until there’s no kayaks or people so that we’re not in the way. One of the employees who I can only describe as looks like “Lil Peep,” the rapper, Caucasian and sunglasses, overtly skinny with no muscle mass, was working today at 1:00 PM, Friday, in the Kayak rental area. This is exactly what he said AS I was walking away because I saw people with kayaks coming in, he said, “I’m not trying to be rude, but you need to get out of here.” When he told me that I turned beet red. I was humiliated. I’m very socially inept and I get embarrassed easily, so I moved to the side, to get out of the way because there were now people coming into the water. He then walks in my direction and says, “Didn’t you hear me? Move your dogs or I’ll move them for you.” I promise you when he said those words, I was now about to DIE from humiliation. There were now so many people around, and I was so beyond embarrassed I couldn’t move. I was frozen. I thought he felt bad for a second but then he said, “….you know…. Where you could go…. There’s a private little area where there’s no people around. So you won’t bother anyone.” Yes, he said “so you won’t bother anyone.” I made it a point to remember exactly what he said. And because I was so embarrassed and confused I didn’t have it in me to back-talk him so I said, “But there’s a sign that says “don’t enter ALLIGATORS,” and guess what he said? “Exactly. Perfect area for your dogs.” At this point I’m enraged, but just so embarrassed I feel like I need to leave. Willow, my brown seven month old chipomsky isn’t budging, she wants to play in the water especially because we had just got there. He’s so angry, you can see the look of pure disgust and hatred on his face, he tried picking her up, and she tried nipping him. He says, “SHE BIT ME! GET THE FK OUT OF HERE!”, you know the flight or fight response where you freeze run or fight? I ran. I ran to the hiking trails. Someone on their bicycle cycled out of the trail and he approached the guy and said “IS THERE A BTCH OVER THERE WITH TWO DOGS?” And the cyclist, I swear to you, didn’t even care that he called me a btch, he just circled back in my direction and said “There’s a guy who works here who sai-“ I cut him off and said “I know what he said, I could hear him.” This next part is almost unbelievable you won’t even fathom it. He started running in my direction so I almost had to circle around him with my pups attached to leashes and run to the car. He tried blocking my car. I was able to get in because I never lock my doors. Thank god. I went through the one way lane for cars going into the direction of the park but I had no choice because I had to get away from him and there were no other cars. He starts yelling, “you btch.” Yall…. I can’t make something like this up. I was CAMP LIVE OAK lifeguard for six years straight. I come here everyday the past ten years or so. This is not right. For this little tiny teenager who looks like lil pump to harass and speak to me, a 30 year old woman like this? I’d like to think I’m a respectful individual and I cannot believe he spoke to me like this. I’ve never ever had an encounter like this before and that’s why I have to leave this comment because it’s just so unbelievable, chaotic, fantastical, and most importantly, inappropriate and rude. He humiliated me beyond belief and said that his imaginary wound could get infected. On the drive home, I thought of my brother who served in the military and how he would laugh if he heard something like that. I even if my seven month old seven pound dog nipped him, it wouldn’t have broke skin. I’m posting photos of my...
Read moreWe stayed Mon-Thr just before Thanksgiving and had a great time. I will share some tips that I wish I had before going.||||Plan on cleaning the cabins a little before settling in. There is some level of cleaning done but if you are a clean person you will probably want to do more. There are no brooms or anything in the cabins so bring your own if necessary.||||They are strict about not letting you into the cabin much before 4:00 pm even if the cabin has been unoccupied for a week. They did let a member of our group check in at 3:15 and get access to the cabin which was a surprise. We had arrived a little after lunch and were told to come back at 4:00.||||There is nowhere to set anything in the bathroom / shower area. There are a couple of hooks and that's it. There are no benches or anything. You have to be creative with your stuff. It's also tricky because you are likely trying to touch as little as possible during COVID times. Other then that the bathrooms are pretty clean and were never crowded when we visited.||||Each cabin has both a grill and a fire pit which has a grill that can be moved in or out. I would recommend buying your firewood from the grocery store ($6/bundle). They sell wood in the park as well but it may be from fallen trees and seems to burn faster then the hardwood from the store (Publix). We enjoyed the grills and the fire pits.||||There are lots of mosquitos and no see ums particularly at dusk and dawn. Bring spray.||||There is a kayak put in very close to the cabins if you bring your own kayaks. We had a great time and found a variety of conditions. There is interior mangrove paddling that is very calm regardless of the winds. There are other areas that can be quite challenging in heavy winds. We had fun on our paddle.||||There are a lot of mountain bike trails. The signs say they require helmets. There is also some casual bike riding in the park.||||We had raccoons (we think) open up out cooler and take a lot of food. I would suggest bringing your cooler into the cabin or securing it well. We lost a lot of good food at night to the little bandits. There are stores within a couple of miles from the park if needed. ||||One of the days we did an excursion to Calle Ocho or Little Havana. We enjoyed it and the food was very reasonably priced. There is a lot of Cuban Heritage to experience. We also visited Wynwood Walls which is a lot of nice murals in a somewhat sketch area. It's fine to drive around but everyone may not want to walk around there at night. It also seems like a decent size area to walk. You could probably walk a few miles to see all of the murals on multiple streets. South Beach is also close by and is an interesting place...
