Very disappointing staying at the Redington Surf this vacation. We will not be coming back, and that is an absolute shame since our family has been staying here for 50+ years. Cute little beachfront motel with individually owned units (imagine Airbnb style!). Penthouse had been our favorite in the past. ||Pros:|1) the balcony provides the most incredible views for dolphin watching and sunsets! Saw dolphins every single day of our 8 day stay! |2) walk right down to the sand and enjoy a relaxing day at the beach!|3) location location location-not a lot of people on the beach at this property! |4) numerical combination lock so no need to walk around with a key!|5) nice little pool to cool off|6) close to Publix |7) kayak, SUP and jet ski rental available just a short walk away, at the DoubleTree hotel||Cons:|1) Room #17 had not been cleaned prior to check-in. Arrived (and checked in on a Saturday at 2pm) to a filthy room- dishes in cabinets were crusted with food, nothing had been wiped down (fridge, remotes, wall switches, handles, door knobs etc), main bedding had NOT been washed (hair all over the sheets!), both beds in guest bedroom were dirty with hair, main bath shower had hair on walls. NOT CLEANED according to even the bare MINIMUM COVID requirements! |2) WiFi does NOT exist (you might as well leave your digital books and media at home!). There’s no way to work remotely from this property! We tried for the first 3 days just to try and connect to the WiFi with zero success. The property manager states wifi is “complimentary” so it’s not guaranteed. I don’t know how they can promote “free WiFi” if there’s zero connection!|3) lights in the stairwell at the penthouse do not work- extremely unsafe at night. |4) PAY EXTRA TO HAVE LINENS SWAPPED or BRING QUARTERS to use the laundry room machines! This can be expensive for families with kids! We did our own laundry (we were lucky the penthouse had a washer/dryer) |5) there is NO housekeeping at all|6) Bring your own hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper and paper towels (they provide the first roll- you’re on your own after that) |7) Bring your own toiletries (this is not a hotel- no free shampoo,...
Read moreThis was our 4th or 5th stay at the Redington Surf Resort. It felt like something was missing. First, we couldn't get the room we wanted(16) though we made reservations months in advance. Seems the room was purchased by a private owner and not available. I think there might have been a management change as well. We settled for the room next to it. If your going to stay here, I'd definitely suggest reserving a second floor room, unless you have small children. If you can get 15 that's a good one. You're right on the beach and can see the sunsets from the balcony. ||Initially, the room had a mildew smell to it but it eventually went away with the assistance of the fan. We didn't need the a/c except for one day. ||Be prepared to bring oven mitts if you're going to bake anything. There weren't any. I can't put my finger on what changed. It just felt that way. ||There's plenty of restaurants in the area. Check on line for menus and what you like to eat. The beach was perfect for walking or just sitting. The pool is always open till dusk. No lifeguard. So you're on your own. There's shuffle board and corn hole available. You can ride your bike on the beach, just a little difficult storing it on the premises, not much room for that. ||The sunsets were perfect. We were there for 5 nights and each was slightly different but spectacular. We wanted time to just hang and that's...
Read moreWe stayed at the Readington surf Resort for nine days. We were not provided items needed to stay for that long. One of each toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, not enough towels for nine nights. We had to wash the towels ourselves. Everything was filthy and gross. Spots on , yellow spots on couch and chair. Recliner did not work. Black mold in the shower, shower curtain was way too long and the threshold was too , to trip over. In the cabinet where the towels were was a huge yellow stain. Dirty flatware and glasses. Blankets were spotted. Rug was gross. Drunk neighbors upstairs were moving furniture day and night. One lady passed out on the picnic table. Called the office and they said no help if it's noisy during the day only after 10:00 p.m , never saw anyone in the office, did not see anyone working in the office or housekeepers to ask for help. Provide supplies or extra needed for this stay. I don't see how this place could pass inspections. They should not allow anyone to stay in this place as filthy as it was. I cannot upload more than one picture. I would not recommend anyone staying here or anywhere else with TripAdvisor. We have come to Madeira Beach for 20 plus years I never had a problem until...
