I purchased my Brighton home 9/18 Upon looking at the house I pointed out several areas that in my mind needed attention. Jesse Roony just brushed it off. Trying to get his attention is next to impossible. One specific area was my lawn. Jesse said it will “be lush and green next year”Jesse tossed some lawn feed. Well Jesse it still isn’t fine, lush or green. It’s brown and yellow and dying .I had to replace every sprinkler head. And that was out of pocket. The sprinklers Brighton installed or inspected upon completion did not have complete coverage. I had to remedy this issue. I had to deal with most issues because Jesse would not reach out in a timely manner. I will not get into the lengthy issues I had attempting to get items fixed. Faulty and insecure railings, inside and out. Stone facade deterioration. Improper landscape grading, to name a few Last year I noticed many areas on the driveway were faulty. You can see the aggregate!!!!!!! Chipping and dipping over the entire surface. Discoloration. And it was only 10 months old.I called Brighton Warranty Department . I received a call from Brighton’s Warrenty Department and described the situation to Thomas Peterson . He said he would would be by my home to look at it. Thomas called me back said I would be on the work order for 2020. Great! I didn’t hear anything. I called Thomas. He didn’t answer. It’s a shame he still doesn’t work there anymore. Probably because he was efficient and solved issues for homeowners. But I heard back from Jesse Rooney . He called me a liar and took no responsibility nor accountability for the defective work. Jessie said we have no work order for you. There is no reason for us to tell you this would be under warranty. People drive over driveways.Really?.... that is what it is there for. But Jesse I don’t have a car. And he further said the information he has is “ the opposite of what I know” ????!!! Brighton’s dealings or lack there of with homeowners is deplorable. I shouldn’t have to replace driveway concrete after 10 months when the work was faulty. I had to pay thousands to get it sealed and have the uneven concrete made flush. So I spoke to 3 professional concrete installers. They all said that concrete was done improperly. It was done in the winter time too much water was used and they put blankets over it. As a result too much water seeped to surface. They further said this is not my responsibility because I bought a new home. And the fault is with the installers/ developers.
Side notes I know 5/8 new homes in my area, all Brighton, have had serious flooding issues due to concrete foundation problems.
I have been involved with Real Estate on a managerial as well as owner position in San Francisco CA for 40 years. I know what it takes to run an above board, profitable trusting company. A company that would do anything to make their investors happy. Brighton is not one of them. Upon moving in I wanted all rugs removed from home and floors installed. I paid extra for this. We had a written agreement that would be done in august. Brighton broke the contract. It was installed and not fully 2 days before I arrived. Should have listened to my gut. I have a litany of situations I had to contend with and because there was no follow though I had to pay it out of pocket. Funny how in these reviews I saw submissions by Jesse Rooney, warranty manager as well has the founder/ceo brother. Fluff ratings much????? I will never do business with this company again. It’s called responsibility; accountability and pride. All which Brighton lacks. Everyone do your diligence. Brighton townhomes and divisions are sprouting up everywhere. Buyer beware. They...
Read moreI should start with the salesman for Brighton, Marty. He is only interested until you are under contract and after that he will avoid you at all costs. Didn’t even show up for either of my walk through. I paid for 12 can lights and at one point he called to tell me the “good news” Brighton now includes can lights in several locations so I only have to pay for 6 can lights. Only to find out on my final walk through that was not true and where I specifically wanted can lights are now done lights and no Brighton won’t change it. Marty promised me that the electrical box will be located in the garage, it isn’t. I upgraded my package which included an extended island yet Brighton installed the dining room chandelier in the same location as a regular island placement making it impossible to center the table under. Brighton won’t fix it. In my plans I asked for the stair lighting to be centered over the stairs, it’s not. During my final walk through my appliances weren’t yet installed and I did find many issues which I was promised they would finish within 5 days, weather permitting. It has now been 7 months and issues still aren’t addressed. After my final walk through the appliances were installed and my floors were scratched. Brighton refuses to fix it. The foundation of my home is uneven, just knock on the floor boards or look at the wall where it meets the floor. Every wall is bowed. My AC went out after a week of moving in, Brighton tried saying there was no way they were at fault. Also my AC unit and every unit in Porter Walton is installed incorrectly. They are supposed to be 18 inches from any fence or wall. I brought this up several times and they moved it an inch! Still not within standards. Fencing was installed that was already damaged, cabinets installed incorrectly, cable wiring not inside the wall, light fixtures are crooked, doors that won’t shut, etc. Every time a sub contractor comes something gets damaged. Brighton’s saving grace is Jesse. He seems to be the only professional at Brighton. Unfortunately, Jesse has a lot on his plate since everyone needs items addressed in the communities he warranties. I have a huge list of items of things that were done incorrectly. Luckily after many emails and phone calls a lot of it has been addressed. Not what I expected when building a new home. I thought there would be some oversight by the general contractor to ensure things were being done correctly. I will continue to warn everyone I know to avoid Brighton homes. I have welcomed many strangers to come through my home so they can see the quality of work Brughtin will deliver. I invite people on Brighton’s Facebook page. Brighton then offered a possible customer to one of their homes under construction. I saw mine under construction, I am not in the construction business therefore I would not know every detail. But I know bowed walls, missed molding and damaged materials. DO NOT BUILD...

Brighton was able to arrange to have the defective deck stairs fixed and they are now stronger and more stable then they were originally. We’re very satisfied with repair work and even the crooked fascia was fixed and it looks like a finished professional job.
I’d like to thank Donovan @ Brighton for his help getting this frustrating situation resolved. A lot of our frustration stemmed from negative interactions with previous personnel but it seems like the team in place now are more organized and professional and we really appreciate Brighton stepping up.
—————————————————————— From the day we moved in we have had issues with the deck, there was a huge gap in the handrail large enough for a child to fit through. They added a section of handrail, but the gap is still larger than code allows, and the posts are visibly misaligned.
The facia pieces are comically misaligned and there is a missing section. There are concrete spatters all over the stairs and other siding from when the patio was poured. These are cosmetic issues and not safety concerns but looks very amateur and shoddy.
During the first year we lived here the part of the deck where the stairs attach started sinking. I probed the footings and discovered that they were not deep enough for our region. They should be at least 30" but only go down about 18-20" (I confirmed this in writing with the city inspector). After weeks of hounding they came out and just jacked up the corner of the deck and put a small block to shim it up without addressing the actual footings. They later declined to fix the footings at all, saying that they would only come back if they started to sink again.
Now my stairs are starting to detach from the deck because they were improperly attached in the first place with nails instead of using a proper connector (this is explicitly forbidden in the International Residential Code – R311.5.1). In addition, the stairs have an unsupported span over twice the maximum recommended distance of 6 feet (per the American Wood Council) which puts more stress on the failing connection. The stairs have always been very bouncy and wobbly.
The staff at Brighton were wonderful until the day we went under contract. Once they had our money they became very unresponsive, even just to get small warranty items fixed. Multiple phone calls went to a full voicemail box so you couldn’t even leave a message. They went through 3-4 different warranty specialists as we were trying to get things addressed which helped make things even more difficult.
I wouldn’t recommend Brighton to anyone. If you do choose Brighton, my advice would be to make sure everything is fixed the way you want it before you go under contract. Our experience has been that you cannot reliably depend on them to honor their warranty or workmanship after they have been paid. We are now stuck with failing, unusable deck stairs and a huge...
