I have mixed feelings. I brought in my car because the passenger wiper was broken. A man (Randy?) checked it out, said the wiper arm was broken, ordered a new one and handed me a quote for $150. He also tried to include a $50 wiper blade with it- thankfully I noticed it on the quote and refused, seeing as I just recently replaced my wiper blades. I had no idea how much wiper arms cost on the spot so I just went with it. He said to come back in a few days when the order gets delivered.
Looked up prices later online/at other garages and saw wiper arms went from as low as $15 to the absolute most expensive one I saw was $80. Pretty upset about the quote I had gotten, I called Midas back. This time, I think it was Tom(?) who answered (someone different). He said he couldn't cancel the order as it had already been invoiced, but offered two free oil changes and apologized. When I came in to get it installed, he was very kind and sympathetic and managed to get me a $57 refund instead.
I appreciate the super friendly customer service (Randy was nice too, just way overcharged me). But, the fact that I even had to ask and would've been ripped off had I not done research myself and asked makes me doubt coming back in the future- it's almost as they knew they ripped me off and was just compensating for getting caught. Who knows though, maybe it just depends who you get- maybe Tom(?) wouldn't have charged me so much...
Read moreTook my ‘17 4Runner to the Northfield Midas, as it’s about 3 min away from where I work and the reviews were good. I brought it in because I needed a new battery and tires. What ensued was pure incompetence. They initially ordered the wrong tires. Luckily, I caught it on the invoice and they were able to get the correct models in. They did an alignment after the tires were put on and called me saying they were done, the car was ready to be picked up. I got there and the car was still on the lift. The manager apologized and said it would be another 30 min. I went back to work and then went back to pick it up. I picked up the car and as I drove away, I noticed the steering wheel was aligned at 10:00-11:00 when driving straight. I called up the manager again and said I’d have it back in so they could correct it. Obviously, they didn’t bother to test drive it to verify their work was done correctly/completely. I dropped off the car again the next day and they corrected the alignment. BUT, when I got home, I noticed that I was missing a lug nut. Upon further inspection, I saw that they SHEARED THE STUD. Other lug nuts also look a bit uneven, so I’m worried they cross-threaded them.
I discovered the sheared stud Friday evening, so I need to call them back Monday and have them fix it. But honestly, I’m hesitant to let these guys touch my car again…. Avoid this circus...
Read moreOne star for the coffee and cleanliness of the shop, but I was nearly ripped off and I’m so glad I called Midas in Solon. I had a guaranteed front muffler and this guy was trying to convince me I needed an entirely new exhaust system because of a pipe/welding issue at the rear of my car that he said was my only option. DESPITE the fact that as I was looking at my car with him I called him out on how it made zero sense. He quoted me $1000, and I had bought my muffler three years ago and it was guaranteed for life. I was infuriated. And honestly a bit insulted. I reached out to Cameron at their Solon store and was quoted exactly what my research told me, about $200. Solon went WAY beyond their scope of service and were so honest and respectful I hate to leave a bad review for Midas in general, because they really are a great company, but Northfield needs to get their act together. I will never go back to that store and their manager needs some training on ethics. Midas Solon is thee best. Stay away from Northfield though. At least for now, as I’m sure they will be addressing my issues. Solon is worth the shortly longer drive hands down. It was like working with two completely ...
