Compadres — Restaurant in Northfield

Honest review: First and foremost I would like to say that Bonney, my server, was great. So smiles and very accommodating. Her timing on checking on me, and the immediacy of several napkins, was on point.

The atmosphere also was very good, as it was clean, colorful, good music, great decor, ample seating and quite roomy. Even the bathrooms were clean and well kept.

Now, the food. This is where I believe they can improve. First, for a lot of us vegetarians, Huevos Rancheros is a mainstay, and served in most Mexican food locations. I don't even look at the menu half the time when I walk in, since I know I'm going to order that. Second, always offer Black beans, Frijoles Negros, as they don't contain animal fats, whereas most refried beans, Frijoles Refritos, do. The veggies were okay, a tad overcooked.

I would like to come back and try another dish at some point, and see what the other dishes are like. I would like to check out the Margaritas Flats, which is a rather novel idea, and I really do enjoy a good...

We didn't think there were any good Mexican restaurants near us in Bedford Ohio. We have heard of Compadres Mexican Grill on Northfield Road, Northfield Ohio and got to try it Saturday 3/30/24. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the bartender and our server Bonney. They were friendly, place was very big and clean. Bonney immediately brought us chips and salsa and we ordered from their many drink choices Corona Margaretas (picture below) which were delicious and huge for the price. I got 2 beef tacos that were served with rice and beans and hubby got beef burrito with rice and lettuce. Both were generous portions and delicious. We got Nacho grande to go and that was amazing. My family was able to reserve a small closed-off section of their restaurant for a birthday dinner party. The restuarant was clean and presentable. Almost all the items on the menu were under $20. A plus was the portion size. Once you saw the size of your plate it made it "okay" that you were paying around $14 - $16 for food. The staff was very polite and my waitress was very nice.
