My husband ordered Perch sandwich and I had the Philly cheese steak. Both came with fries. We sat outside waiting on our order and started talking to the owner who was out front manning the grill. His order came out, and mine took longer than expected. As an apology they brought me a slice of sweet potato pie and more water. They opened in June, so timing needs to be improved. Regardless it was worth the wait. While sitting there we learned that his mom makes their BBQ sauces and the pies from scratch. I recognized a homemade pie (I used to own a scratch bakery) and asked questions. The pie had small pieces of sweet potato, not that pureed canned stuff. Baked in a graham cracker crust. It had different flavor profile than what I was familiar with, but it was good. My husband raved about his sandwich and mine also was very good with generous amout of thick slice steak. My husband went in and ordered a whole slab ribs to go. He ate some when we got home. Frankly I'm not sure how he had room. I could only eat half my sandwich. The portions are generious. 5 star sauce and pie Miss Poppy.

Today we tried Taste of Northfield and it was great! The catfish dinner & 10 whole wings were fabulous, crispy, juicy & well seasoned! The mac n cheese was baked & not overly creamy but tasty! The greens we so flavorful... but watch out, I know they are cooked with turkey & my fork found a neck bone (thankfully) before my teeth did! Just give them a good stir to check! The polish boy tasted good but was not my favorite. Most of the bun fell apart & was just too soggy. We ate the components but wish someone would make a buildable polish boy where you assemble it when you eat it! That would make it so much better! We also loved the lemon pound cake (light & bright!!) with the peach cobbler a close second but again a bit soggy for me! I hope they get the banana pudding back! I would love to try that! I think this may become our go to catfish & wing...

Let me start by saying, I rarely ever leave reviews. But I have to make an exception for this amazing soul food restaurant. From the very first visit, everything has been top-notch—the food is absolutely delicious, the service is excellent, and the location is convenient. The place is clean, nicely set up, and very well organized.

What truly makes it stand out is the phenomenal staff. They are a wonderful family who work so well together, and their positive energy shines through. We’ve been here several times just this week alone, trying different menu items, and every single dish has surpassed my expectations.

This is officially our go-to spot from now on. Gold star for this beautiful family and may all the blessings continue to flow...
