I’m being very generous in my rating because it was a lovely day at sea, the staff were very kind, and I’m not a cruel person. However, as a glass bottom boat tour I honestly give it one star because we saw absolutely nothing from the glass bottoms—which are actually four open areas in the boat you walk to and look down into—the bottom of the boat is not glass. The boat was always either in too deep of water to see anything but water, or going too fast in the rare times that you could see that things were below us. We were excited when the captain said we were going to Electric Beach as my husband has always wanted to snorkel there but the sketchy parking conditions and area has prevented him. Unfortunately we went near the area, but not close to it, it was still way off in the distance, like a mile or something, and we weren’t anywhere near the reef where we could have seen fish—and again we were just speeding along and probably wouldn’t have seen anything even if the reef was actually below us. We did see turtles pretty close, which was fun, and whales off in the distance—though honestly we had seen more whales closer to us from the shore as we visited various beaches and look outs around the island. It was a pleasant boat ride, but we would never do it again. It just wasn’t what we...
Read moreThere’s no specific instruction as to where exactly the place will take place. It only mentioned the port area. When we parked at the Lagoon (4th or last lagoon), the podium (location) of the meeting place was found and it had a small little (8x10 signage) and it was on the floor mentioning the name of the Ko’ Olina Glass Bottom Tour. If we didn’t look for the bathroom to use we wouldn’t probably find the meeting place also we’ve heard from few customers who were just coming by to do the tour as well, the time slot for their tour was either 1/2 early or 1/2 later. There’s not clear and great instructions and directions for the ease of people specially if they’re visiting from another state or country. We didn’t see a lot of fish at the bottom glass and mainly it’s just riding the boat to have a good time. Being out in the open sea is good and they fed the one kind of species of fish and there wasn’t a different ones. Price would have been lower if it’s supposed to see the bottom of the ocean with different species of fish; but sad to say mostly you’ll only see corals. It’s great for sure to people who just wanted to be out in the ocean, being relax and feeling the breeze in their faces, take pictures including the background with Disney Aulani and Marriot...
Read morePerfect activity for little kids or bigger families!
It was low key with the captains’ welcoming relaxed attitudes. With 5 kids under 9 (with 3 under 3), there aren’t a lot of family activities that are really fun/safe for Everyone. Big kids stood where they could feel the spray and the most rocking of the boat. Little kids went back and forth between the glass portals in the floor and sitting in the front of the boat.
Someone dropped their phone into the water, and one of the captains jumped in to get it. He was unsuccessful, but he gave it his best effort, which we all appreciated! There was trash floating in one area another time, and he pulled it out with a net.
There are four glass portals like maybe 2-3ftx4-5ft where you can see coral and a few fish. With fish food, schools of fish swarmed—it was cool. We also saw a turtle and had an incredible view of the mountain range/Ko’olau. Even if we went on a day when the fish were more elusive, as they said can rarely happen (but does): the panoramic views, the invigorating ocean spray, and the ocean floor/corral would have made it a worthwhile excursion.
It is one of the only locally run tourist boating, so it is IMPORTANT to support them. The staff care about people...
