UPDATE: Got a call from GM, the one my date had spoken to wasn't, we will be getting our refund, since it's after the day it will have to come from Corp. Not her fault. Just how they do it. She was ridiculously nice, professional, empathetic and amazing. Has been using this for a learning experience for staff, which is wonderful. She did ask if there was anything else she could do, I didn't ask for more then just the refund due to how she handled the situation with me and her staff. I prefer that over anything beyond refund and working with her team.
They actually called the cops on us so full disclosure yes I swore and my voice was raised by the end. Not yelling. But the size of my date must have scared them. 4 guys in front of us, whistling, scrolling Facebook, another was watching you tube, laughing (watching The Doomed), another turns on his flashlight to the movie and they go off on another giggling fit, so 35 mins in I've had enough and go complain since they ignored me asking them to cut it the F out. Manager stated he'd come in and check things out. 20 mins later, they are still scrolling. So we left. I see manager at the exit and say I want a refund and I thought you were coming in to say something. He states he did come in and saw nothing. I say where cause I didn't see you. He states at the bottom. Mind you I told him we were far back row and they were right in front of us. So I ask, why the F would you stand at the bottom and not behind them to see. Cause he can see screen brightness from down there and if I swear again no refund and I will be removed. So I ask how is what they are doing okay but I can't say the F word one time? Then no refund and we need to leave. At that point my date said no where is it posted you can't speak like that. We ask for the general manager, she isn't here (yes when we called after leaving she was) we ask for her name. Manager and security state it is illegal to give her name. Excuse me no it isn't. I'm a GM, I know it isn't. So we ask for corporate number. That's apparently illegal to give as well. So as I'm asking how I'm getting kicked out for one swear word yet those guys could watch videos, we are given 30 seconds to leave. My date was beyond upset and angry by then so hes telling them all of this was insane. We spent 45 mins at the bar where I had a drink, we ate some snacks and chatted with the bartender. After having a nice dinner in town. For this to be how it ends. When my date called to see if GM was in she gave his number to the police who left him a voicemail. The police. Cause I said the F word. If I can't say it in there post a sign. Like you do for no guns on site. Manager had no issues when I complained the first time and I swore and raised my voice way more that first time. So really they saw the size of my date and decided this was the way to go. Manager and security made that one of the worst experiences I ever had. Wonder how the rest in the back row felt about the constant videos that the manager didn't even address properly. Never again which is a shame cause prior to the mishandling of this we were having a good time. We should have just went to our normal theater. Least we wouldn't have had a movie volume so low we could hear the movie in the...
Read moreThe seats are indeed comfortable... Honestly, the best part of the whole experience. Very comfy, and cozy if you choose to sit close to the person you came with. We saw Solo on screen 3. When we bought our tickets for the 7:30 show, the ticketing system showed almost all seats sold. So, we picked all the way in the back, right hand side at the top. Turned out to be a pretty good view, unlike side seats at other theaters. But during the movie, the better placed "sold" seats never filled in. That was a bit infuriating. There were other problems, too: 1) the way the seats are terraced, if anyone gets up too use the bathroom, they block the view and and the projection. 2) the sound quality was balanced and clear as far as frequencies go. But the volume of the film was one of the lowest I've ever heard. It didn't have the auditory impact of seeing an action film in a theater. 3) what's up with the house lights?! All along the stairs, there is a strip of LED lights to guide you along the steps... But they are bright enough to destroy the perception of deep black tones. So really dark scenes are hard to see, and add I said, blacks aren't very black. 4) there were about 10 trailers. And the selection of them was all over the genre map. They had already moved Solo off of the better quality screens, so I can't comment on whether or not they are worth an extra...
Read moreIn all fairness, I do not usually go to this cinema, but do frequent the Marcus Ridge Cinema. On this occasion it was a Tuesday when movies and popcorn are discounted, so a very popular day to go. On arrival, there were numerous vans dropping off elderly and disabled people. The lobby was extremely full. We arrived 40 minutes before the start of the show and had purchased our tickets ahead of time. There were only 2 people working the counter for snacks, so two very long lines that made it difficult for people coming in to get through. We literally waited in line for 30 minutes just to get popcorn. We missed all the trailers and the first few minutes of the movie. This was after others had already stepped out of the line so they wouldn't miss the movie. A lady 2 ahead of us held up the counter gal for 10 minutes arguing about a discount she was supposed to get, causing the employee to go back and forth to her manager. A good manager would have come out and quickly solved the problem or at the very least added more people to handle such a large crowd. I would recommend going to a different Marcus theater that knows how to handle the bigger crowds, and anticipates the busiest movie times. I have never, ever waited 40 minutes just to get popcorn in any...
