I've been going to Anatoly's since 2019. I've mostly brought them skirts and dresses from India, along with the occasional American dress.Even though the clothing I bring in can sometimes be challenging, they have always delivered (and even saved a too small dress for my daughter). I have mostly worked with K, and he is always kind, offers good advice, and has helped me rush orders when needed. He has also been taking my measurements for the dresses that I order from Indian for two years now, dresses he knows very little about, and it always seems to work out. K, your service has kept me returning as a customer.
A few weeks ago, I scheduled a measurement appointment, assuming K would know what I needed. I came in with a list of measurements that I needed from my dressmaker. But K wasn't there. I watched an older tailor who I believe is Anatoly argue with the young man directing customers about not wanting to take my measurements, in English and another language. The tailor sounded frustrated as he explained to me that he can't measure me because I didn't have the dress with me (it hadn't been made but i had a photo of a similar one), because their shop was not making the dress, and because I didn't know the specific measurements that I needed (I did and had already showed him). I'm not sure if he realized that I planned on bringing the dress to him to tailor, like I always do. It was a bit unclear what he was saying to me, but I believe he said that he didn't want to be blamed if my dress was messed up. I assured him that I wouldn't, that K gave me the same warning for measurements.
Then he proceeded to angrily and quickly take my measurements, talking loudly about how it was a waste of his time and complaining more that I was there. He measured my waist around my hips and I had to ask him to do it again, he didn't even seem to notice. My bust was measured incorrectly, and it had to be remeasured afterwards by someone not from Anatoly's. It's such a small shop, and he was complaining about me so loudly while measuring me that other customers stared. I felt berated and shamed for coming to a business that I have supported for years and asking them to do what they had done for me many times. I was charged for the bad measurements (I have no problem paying for measurements, but they do have to be accurate), and he walked away without so much as a goodbye.
I know that K would have smoothed things over for me if he had been there. But the damage has been done. I live with PTSD, and the way Anatoly treated me ensured that I won't feel safe in there again. They probably won't miss my business and that's ok. I wish them the best. I also wish that the business would take some public accountability for his behavior, instead of responding with defensiveness and gaslighting the customer's experience. I'm not the only reviewer online that has dealt with his anger...
Read moreI could not thank K and the entire Anatoly family enough for their help with my Made to Measure suit for my wedding! My wedding suit journey with them started January 2020 as I planned to get married in June 2020. Like many other Covid brides, that all got postponed and through the entire year of waiting, K was extremely patient and supportive throughout the whole process. By the time plans were finalized to get married in July 2021, I went to see K at the Anatoly store to try on my suit for the first time since our initial appointment one year later. I had lost 35 lbs since our initial appointment and because of this, I was swimming in the suit and K had to basically make me a new suit that fit my new body! A couple of fittings and tweaks later...my suit was perfect. Everyone at Anatoly's is extremely knowledgeable about how a suit should fit and they will give you their honest opinion if something does not look right. Being a woman and finding a suit that fits is extremely hard but K made the whole process super easy and made me feel comfortable the entire time. He will not let you walk out the door until you are completely satisfied. I will definitely be coming back to get more suits made and the most exciting thing is that Anatoly's will be coming out with Made to Measure...
Read moreWonderful, most hospitable place in its own right. Kirill is a phenomenal human being, dedicated to his clients, master of the craft, envisioning a masterpiece that compliments that specific person's anatomy through fabric, with a personality that makes the Gods proud and the rest of us hopeful ... that great and genuine human interactions exist. I often come here for watch repair (hands of gold, by the way). The visibility of the shop is mostly suite alternations and men’s formal wear, until I realized that these tailors are masters of it all (not just suites and dress pants). Jenas, dresses .. I brought an expensive pair of jeans that I bought with my student income way back when. I have missed wearing them, not being able to find a place that I can trust to revive them back for me (I lost weight and they were too big for me to enjoy). Well, I brought them here and they were saved. Amazing human beings run this place. Yet another gem in the community...
