I wanted to update my review to share the exciting news that the renovations on the Park have been completed. The park looks wonderful. There's an awesome new playground there which I hope Oakland's youth enjoy for many years to come. Some may express concern that the park has, in the past few years, become a place of last refuge for homeless people. That's is indeed a shame which requires a response on a societal level. I hope ias we go forward, there aren't conflicts in the park around the new facilities and the possible return of unsheltered individuals, especially those individuals who suffer from mental health issues. Call this wish simplistic but-- I hope the kids who enjoy this refurbished park and new playground-- have experiences which can contribute to joyful childhoods-- and hence are spared mental health problems in later years.
