Yasai Produce Market — Attraction in Oakland

I fricken love this place! It is so affordable and really good quality, especially their fresh fruit and vegetables. As a broke college student, whenever I can buy something here I try to because it’s going to be at least 2 dollars less than what I would have spent at Safeway let alone Whole Foods. I can buy like 6 donut peaches, fresh and delicious for like 4 bucks vs Market Hall for example I would spend like 9 bucks for the same amount and quality. It’s a little more of a treck for me from my house, but it’s so worth it when I can buy like 8 items and the total is 25 bucks vs anywhere else where that might get me 4 or 5. I LOVE...

I can't understand these high reviews. Their prices are high and the quality indifferent. Actually, since Trader Joe's has improved its produce, Yasai Market's produce is generally inferior to TJs and usually 25 to 100% more expensive. And when, today, I bought a basket of cherry tomatoes that looked fine but tasted a bit tainted, and I called Yasai, they didn't answer their phone despite my waiting 20 rings because I thought they should know that that case of tomatoes might...

Lovable local corner store, with an amazing selection of stuff -- really a small supermarket in that sense. Produce pretty good for the most part, fresh corn lately exceptional. Prices reasonable. They seem to have survived the opening of the Safeway across the street. You are allowed to park in the Safeway lot across the street for one hour free, even if you don't shop at Safeway -- this was part of a deal negotiated with local community...
