I have been going to Super CAO Nguyen for about 25 years ever since they were in their old location. Their new location is fantastic! My favorite time to go there is on the weekend because you can come across people from all over the world shopping for their favorite foods. Their large variety of rice is very good; my favorite brand is Victorious elephant jasmine rice which is very flavorful and fragrant. The Butcher Shop is exceptional;; they even have live fish you can buy and they will process it for you. Some of the butcher's have been working there for many years and are very friendly and recognize their regular customers. Good stuff. Are baguette bread is to die for and very inexpensive. They have a great fresh mushroom selection they're portabellas and shiitakes are so fragrant delicious! So far this is the only place but I can find my favorite Coco Rico coconut soda. Yum! They have a couple of aisles where you can find cooking utensils and pots and pans you can use for your Asian Style cooking, Etc... Dishes bowls all kinds of containers. There is an Isle where you can buy selectees and tea set. just gorgeous. You can buy fresh plants there and there's a little stand with the lady that designs bamboo Arrangements. They have a really big variety of International Foods, and they're frozen food section is quite varied. This is a location I would encourage anyone to visit to see what a real Supermarket should be. This Supermarket was featured in a 2016 Smithsonian volume, by the way. A great time to visit is during the Asian New Year where they have dragon dances. I can't say enough good things about super CAO Nguyen I just love it! Since my retirement I travel 125 miles one way to get my...
Read moreOnly Asian store who plays Spanish music (Loudly). One of the Spanish guy at the wet market (back) was very rude to us. I could have left it alone, but he embarrassed me by the way he talked to me. I hope this will reach the management of this place.
(Long Story, but might as well tell) So this one guy at the back (wet market area) was very rude to me and my mother. First, we asked for a sack to put the fish in. He just looked at us like we're a couple dumb old Asians, and then he finally pointed where the sack was and made the impression that we were wasting his time. Well, no wonder we could not find the sacks because it was well hidden in the back of the other stuff. So we proceed, my mom bought two types of fish, sack them, and put them in the cart. Then she asked for ice, and the man gave her a small bag of ice. Then after a few minutes, I've decided to purchase fish FOR MYSELF, not for my mama, but for myself. So I asked for a bag of ice FOR MY FISH. This same man was angry and said in a loud voice, "NO NO, YOU HAVE ICE, SMALL BAG ONLY, NO!". At the same time, he was pointing at my mama. So the people around us were looking at me and my mama strangely. I was holding myself back and not to say anything back to him. Instead, I've explained why I need another small bag of ice and told him IT'S FOR MY FISH. He then again angrily said, "NO NO SMALL BAG ONLY, JUST ONE!" So I walked away, and when I got to the front, I looked for the manager and told him what happened. He apologizes for the action of the man and he said he would talk to him, but who knows if he will or not. Overall experience was bad because they have POOR...
Read moreA very large store with a very large selection of food, from Chinese, to Vietnamese, to Korean, to Thai, to Japanese, and even non-Asian foods. They also have a lot of freshly-baked items, like their steamed buns and rice cakes, that are really good. If you're looking for anything Asian/international, this store probably has it! ^-^
However, if I were to name a few cons: The store does smell very fishy. I don't think it's an overpowering-vomit-inducing smell, no, but it's definitely there... If you don't already know what you're looking for and/or don't understand languages other than English, you may have a hard time finding what you're looking for. I often have to translate labels for my mother because there aren't any labels in English outside of the fruit and baked goods sections. And, lastly, the staff in the back (the ones that take care of the meats and fish) don't seem to speak English. My grandmother asked them if they carried Octopus and no one was able to answer her, so we had to go to another store. If you have any questions that need to be answered, it may be hard to find help... I'd say that's the worst thing about the store. (Not all of the staff are like this though. As another review said, I think the younger the employee, the more likely they are to speak English. All of the younger employees I've spoken to - usually cashiers - can speak English and are very nice and helpful. Maybe ask them?)
I'd still recommend it, just make sure you know what you're looking for first; things are a lot...
