This is the first time and only time I've been to this location. So it could be that it was an off day but I feel like the issues I had with the place are the same as other reviewers...so it probably is not just a one time thing.
Let me first start by saying towels WERE available but there definitely was not an abundance of them around... I bring my own towel....so this isn't really a problem for me.
Everyone seemed to be wiping down equipment but I feel like employees should also be doing it and I didn't see one come through the weight lifting space at all in the two hours I was there.
The locker room is pretty small for such a large gym. But there are plenty of lockers scattered about the two workout floors. I think this is great as you can kinda keep an eye on your stuff. It also means that the locker room isn't really over crowded because only people changing and showering are in there.
The condition of the locker room was ok. Not super nice. Not super clean. But it was a locker room. Smelly yes. Wet yes. But not gross.
The showers however are one area I expect things to be clean...and smell free. This was not the case. They were gross. The shower heads also are meant to spray water at an angle but they were so caked over with hard water they just shot out in a single high pressure stream. This means that they really only hit the floor is one spot and the rest of the shower floor where water was not rinsing off the sweat and grime was very gross. I imagine this is also what made it smelly. Another thing I found weird was there were no towel hooks in or outside the shower.
At one point someone who worked there even brought a dirty mop into a shower stall and rinsed it off. I'm pretty sure this was the same employee who said "you don't want to know" to us as they walked by to go clean up a mess in the woman's locker room...gross.
All but one machine seemed to be working in the weight lifting area.
The saunas, pool and hot tub we're nice but the steam sauna smelled absolutely awful. I also detected a slight scent of eucalyptus. I imagine they were trying to use it to cover up the awful smell...it wasn't working.
Something to note is all the above are co-ed. So that was a bit awkward. Not their fault. I just had never encountered that before. It feels progressive but I'm sure it also could make some people really uncomfortable.
Parking was a breeze. The building was well laid out and spacious. Lots of extra special equipment and a cross fit area. Members we're friendly. I didn't feel judged for being a skinny guy who's working on bulking up.
Overall it's a good space and the options are plenty. The vibe is good and the people are friendly. The cleanliness/maintenance of things is definitely something that could be approved upon. Those showers should be a 911. I'm literally soaking my feet in disinfectant as I write...
Read moreI came over in March of this year just to find out about 6 weeks or 6 months free workout. Assistant manager Joe Whitemann told me there is a 60 dollars fee and I don’t have to pay anything else. So I payed half of the price and the other half he took in April 1st from the bank account. In order to pull the money out automatically he asked me to sign a paper which I did. Starting the next following month April instead of being charged for the half of the 60 dollars he charged me 80 dollars. Let me be more clear. So instead of paying 60 dollars I paid 47dollars plus the rest of the 60 dollars which totals to 80 and plus. I have never had any of the free 6 weeks or 6 months of work out. Not only he lied but he charged me extra, plus I found out later that there is my signature somehow in contact of membership. This guy was out of this location he has been moved to another location of the gym. I came to the gym in order to figure out this problem but they wanted to charge me 200 dollars for cancellation. It was another manager who is very rude and told me that he has only 2 minutes to talk with me. His name is Rick.He was keep sending back and forth the worker by name Casey instead of talking straight to me and figuring out the problem. I’ve explained the situation and the manager made a phone call after a while he said that my membership was cancelled. But in May I’ve been charged again for the amount of 47.08 dollars. I came over the next day and again this manage Rick opened up my account in computer and said that the money will be refunded the next 7 to 14 days. I haven’t received anything. I went today for the third time still they are asking me questions like they have no idea what am I talking about. This manager Rick is such an ignorant I’ve called him twice and left voice mail before stopping by for the third time, but he never called me back. Today he said, that he had tried to help me, but the upper bill office I don’t exactly know what he called them denied it the request. This manager never ever tried to inform me about anything. Today he is saying completely different things. First time when I went he said he cancelled my membership and now he says he tried.... This people just know how to drag money from a person that’s it!!! I’ve never seen a manger who don’t care about the costumers and acts like he helps. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. Read moreAbsolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. I've always doubted why people say to avoid their contract but I had to learn the hard way. They changed the name from 24hr to Genesis but they still don't put the customer first.
I had called a few days ago asking how to cancel. The guy at the front desk said come in any time before 9pm and someone will be there to help. So I came in around 6:30pm. When I got there, a different guy at the front desk said no one was there to help me and the guy I needed just left. He said I needed to come back.
Mind you I had called at around 4:30 that day so it was a fairly short window of time from when I called to when I drove up there. I left a bit annoyed as you can imagine.
I called today, the manager of that location was very rude and unkind. I wasn't annoyed at the beginning of the call but his tone started to escalate the call. Then he did the most disrespectful thing to his paying customer.
This manager hung up on me for asking questions about how to cancel my membership. Wow????!!! I assure you I didn't say anything disrespectful or rude to him. Of course I was very annoyed and confused with their policy after driving up there to waste my time so I admit I wasn't in the brightest of spirits. Who wouldn't be? But i never said anything that would warrant being hung up on. It was a bit cruel and really hurt my feelings. He said "have a nice day" and hung up. I literally cannot believe it.
I've never had such a disappointing experience. I will not be going back. Before this call i might have rejoined but not now. I've also never left such a low review for any company but people need to hear this.
I've been with Genesis for 3-4 years and have always paid on time. I'm well outside of the early termination period so I assumed it would be hassle free. I would not recommend Genesis at all if you think you might cancel down the road because you will leave feeling like a piece of trash and regret ever joining.
