I haven't eaten in the restaurant yet - just lots of takeout - but I love how it's decorated. It looks very homey and relaxing. The main reason I am leaving this review is because Hacienda Real's tamal are SO DELICIOUS! I have been searching for tamal with very flavorful masa, and finally found them here! I used to buy them by the dozen from a friend of mines mom and then freeze them, but we've lost touch. Hacienda Real makes their masa SO flavorful that other restaurants, even my favorite La Mesa, cannot begin to compare! They don't have a tamal dish on the menu, instead you can order one on the side or do a "create your own combo" on their menu, which is what I do. They make their tamal the best way - sloppy - where you have to scape the extra masa off the corn husk when you unwrap them to eat. They are VERY filling as they are so generous with the masa, so order 2 with rice and beans only if you want leftovers or you are a big eater! Their rice and beans taste great as well with generous portions. The rice is homestyle with some vegetables in it. Enchiladas are also my favorite and Hacienda Real has a lot of different ones that I am betting all taste wonderful, so try them all! I've tried the poblano and the verde and both are excellent! My husband is a huge burrito fan and loves their super burrito on the lunch menu. They have a similar one on the dinner menu as well. The staff has been wonderful with getting my takeout orders, very laid back but efficient at the same time. I can't wait to eat there and take home my leftovers for another meal. Thank you SO much, Hacienda Real, for making such...
Read moreWe have seen this place and finally decided to drop in. They are very fast, attentive and friendly. We started with the Cucumber Jalapeno Margarita and Habanero Margarita which definitely have some fire to them - we got seconds! There is complimentary chips and salsa and beans dips and we added the Spinaca Quaco Dip which was very cheesy. For dinner we got the Seafood Chimichanga and Pollo en Mole. Both portions are huge and they came out delicious, quick and very hot. Overall, we were very happy to find this place and with such a large menu will be happy to visit again.
Update January 2025: Still super fast, friendly, helpful, fresh and delicious. We got the habanero margaritas (again) which did not disappoint. The burrito grande and seafood rellano were both hearty, hot and scrumptious. For some reason we thought we had room for dessert and ordered the chabelita. They were out of ice cream so they gave us fried ice cream instead with it. Pure awesomeness!
Update March 2025: The Hacienda Molcajete is ridiculously awesome (see video). Definitely a dinner for 2. The Tacos Supremos was...
Read moreGlad this restaurant is now open. The wait was worth it. The options went far beyond Tex-Mex and fast food. The chips, fresh salsa and warm bean dip that greeted us was the first indication this was going to be a treat. The service was great in the pleasantly-colorful and tastefully done setting. Menu was wide, fresh and well-prepared. It reminded me of the family recipes I had at the homes of friends and nice restaurants traveling in Mexico. Ingredients were fresh, with freshly-made tasty sauces and portions were ample, not because of the use of excessive rice/beans. The pork in the chili verde was tender indicating proper slow cooking. My guest was impressed with the choice of tequilas and quality/availability of non-blended, pre-mix margaritas. Prices were reasonable, too. I would call this a little gem in a strip mall location where you can relax on a mini-vacation and try some exceptional Mexican food. It was perfect for entertaining a guest and giving a great impression of what Omaha...
