I was looking for a winery to go in Santa Maria as I was already going to Bien Nacido and had some extra time. I settled on Cambria, mostly because of the new tasting room. I wasn’t too familiar with most of the wineries on the Foxen Wine Trail, but Cambria seems celebrated for its Chardonnay so I decided to try it out.
The location and tasting room are gorgeous. There’s a little picnic area on a hill as you drive in that overlooks the Santa Maria Valley. The tasting room is well decorated, new and clean. It’s definitely a nice location.
The service was good, they try to figure out which of their wines is your style and don’t necessarily go off a scripted menu. That was a welcome change from other wineries.
Alas, I was not a big fan of the wines. They are on the riper / fruitier side. Very fruity Chardonnay, extremely rich Pinot Noir. They have some wines that are a little less ripe and slightly more acidic but overall this isn’t my style of wine.
Overall a good experience, just not...

We had a great time and met some wonderful patrons as well. The tasting room was awesome. We sat inside near the fireplace and could see the vineyard in front of us and the wine barrels and vats to the side. Over all a great experience and I highly recommend for Pinot and Chardonnay...
