I was curious about Ayres having had their glass pours at many restaurants and wanted to taste in person. They taste by appt. only. So we emailed the day before, and had an appointment in minutes. We tasted with the winemaker, Brad McLeroy, and had one of the best tasting experiences. Brad makes only/mostly pinot noir, with a touch of rosé and Pinot Blanc/Sauv Blanc for hot summer days. These wines were flat-out excellent. Balance fruit and structure, a great example of ribbon ridge characteristics- more blue fruit with baking spice characteristics compared to the more red-fruited Dundee hills. Brad is gregarious, generous, and welcoming as they come. I didn't intend to buy a case, but that's all it takes to join the wine club with no additional annual purchase requirement.
