Activate Games — Attraction in Overland Park

My son had his 14th birthday party here and it was a majority of my family’s first time visiting this business. I booked a birthday lounge and it was spacious enough for my group of friends and family totaling about 25 people. There was a booking mix up so I recommend making sure you know what time you’ll have the lounge and what time your game/playtime will begin; however, the staff was pleasant and very accommodating. I spoke with several staff members to ask questions and confirm details before I booked the party and every single person was so nice and had the highest quality of customer service. I want to send a major ‘Thank You’ to Kyle, the assistant manager, who went above and beyond to make sure we got to enjoy all the gaming activities and family time in the lounge. Staff like Kyle will ensure that I recommend this location to all of my loved ones! He definitely went above and beyond to make this day special for my family. A few notes about the lounge: there are two tables, two couches that can fit about 6-7 people, and about 6 chairs. It is an enclosed space, but without a door. The lounge also includes a fridge perfect for keeping food and beverages cold. You can also bring in decorative items, but make sure you plan adequate time for setup and takedown. About the facility and games: it’s a really spacious building, very modern design and there are flashing lights so anyone with a medical condition adverse to flashing lights should take precaution and plan accordingly. Very disappointed in tonight's experience. We unfortunately could not make a reservation but upon arriving we were told there was space so we paid and our kids were very excited to get started. As we were putting our things in the lockers one of the employees told us my daughter was not allowed to participate if she was wearing Crocs. Recalling the family that had just left, all of their boys were all wearing Crocs so why was she being discriminated or singled out? The employee said it was a safety hazard because of previous injuries that have happened- but I had explained she wore them last time we attended and nowhere in the building or during sign-up was there anywhere stating she could not wear Crocs. Not sure if it was a race thing, or a sex thing? But it was extremely disappointing and embarassing to have to go back to the desk to get refunded while my daughter felt liable for possibly ruining the night due to wearing the same shoes she wore the last time we attended. After being refunded we ended up leaving and going to BRKthrough instead and not a single injury was had... If a rule is going to be put into place maybe make it more specific than "closed-toed" because the style she has is the closed-toe. We had a ton of fun the first time we attended but how crazy is it that my daughter can enter shooting competitions all summer in her Crocs but can't play some arcade games because of some loosely-enforced rule that all of a sudden applied to her but not the 4 boys wearing them as they walked out of...

We had an amazing time at Activate! Definitely will return one day and recommend to all! There were 3 of us, 2 adults and a young teen and we had so much fun. This place is really cool and nothing like anything we have back home. We purchased the 90minute package and it was enough time for us. We felt anything more we’d have been completely wore out, because it is a workout of sorts, (to the point we started out fitness watches after 30mins and burnt more than 320 calories each in the remaining hour) haha. We had never been and actually were just visiting the city and decided to go here. We are extremely glad we did. There was no wait upon our arrival and we secured our tickets online before showing up. We had no idea what to expect but it was okay as staff explained everything to us and it’s all pretty simple once you get the hang of it. When I say we had so much fun as a family! So many memories made, laughs shared and just a good ol time to be forever remembered. There are both competitive and team games, and we noticed how well we worked together in order to beat the games and found that to be an awesome gift in itself just doing something as a family we all enjoyed, agreed and shared in.
