Today was craving pizza to have with the game, Pizza Tascio Overland Park has been on the radar for some time since they came to Overland Park.
Let's get this out of the way, I'm in love with this pizza. Just like when I met my wife, I was immediate head over heels. There will be gushing in this review. I've been looking for a pizza that matched a NY style pie that I used to have in college, two brothers from Brooklyn came to KS and set up shop, then left. When the driver showed up, she said "OMG, my car smells amazing, it's all I could do to get these here!". She wasn't exaggerating, I took a whiff and thought, "naw, can't be"...but one bite into that huge slice of double cheese and I was back home at Parkway Pizza circa 1987.
The large I ordered us was a double cheese, HUGE slices, wonderfully light crust, has the flop you want for NY style, delicious cheese that didn't taste like the standard stuff we usually have on pizzas here. It had a nuttier, richer flavor that matried well with the herbs and spices used in the sauce. Speaking of sauce, it's a beautiful red pizza sauce that tastes pretty darned home-made. Best cheese slice I've had in decades, it's outstanding.
Now, the show stealer: the Sicilian crust 10x14 pan style pizza. I ordered the 3 meat which is pepperoni, Italian Sausage and ham, also added hot honey. This pizza is in one word: perfect. The crust is fluffy, yet the edges are substantial and caramelized with all the cheese, sauce and flavors from the meats. The meats are alsona step above the standard fare pizza joint...the pepperoni are the tasty little cup ones, if you know, you know. The sliced Italian sausage and ham, also something a step above the others. They give you a side of warm sauce to dip your crust or your slice and the hot honey was a nice little kick that wasn't overbearing, but just little hints as the flavors of the meats developed in this perfect pizza symphony.
I am so excited that Kansas City has Pizza Tascio here and especially tickled we have something close to home here in Lenexa. Wow, what pizza they have...that was delicious in every sense of the word! And don't let the size of the Sicilian scare you, it's plenty filling. I was able to put down 2 slices of the Sicilian and 1 slice of cheese...I couldn't eat another bite. These 2 pies more than fed our family of 4.
Give them a try, you are going to love them, well, or at least a serious case of like for those afraid of...
Read moreI've ordered enough times now to give an honest review to Tascio. The pizza tastes fantastic. Big pies. Good quality toppings. Cooked nicely. The crust has a crunchy crust, but otherwise is soft and chewy. They add enough salt to the dough mix to leave it nicely seasoned. The ranch dressing is also delicious. Good consistency. Great herby flavor. Made fresh. The prices are steep. Really steep. 3 pizzas + tip was over $100. The quality is great, but $30+ a pie is hard to justify putting Tascio in our weekly dinner rotation. Service is lackluster. I'm not expecting 5* service from a pizza joint. I consistently have items missing from my order when I pick my food up. Always missing sides of sauce or ranch. I always check the order before leaving now but if I send my kid or other family members, I should expect part of my order missing. This location also is usually FILLED with smoke from the oven. Not a deal breaker necessarily but not enjoyable and it cannot be good for employees to be stuck in that for 8 hours. All together I'd give Tascio 3-3.5. If they offered smaller pizzas for a lower price and fixed their quality control (missing items, smoky inside) issues, they would be a 5 all day. I have no experience with their delivery as that adds another negative variable in an otherwise decent pizza experience. I'll continue to be an occasional customer and hope management improves from some...
Read moreVisited during my husband's lunch break on a late Thursday afternoon, there was no one else in the place when we got there, a couple of people came through while we dined inside. My husband had a reheated pepperoni slice, that he enjoyed and went back for another slice. They have a good deal of 2 slices and a can of soda for $10.
Update 03/09/2025: The food quality is consistent, and the pick-up times are always accurate, which means if we want to pick-up a whole pizza on a time crunch we can reliably count on the pizzas being ready.
They have a generous rewards program, and I am regularly getting enough points to get $15 off our entire order.
They have weekly specialty pizzas they keep in rotation. Today I tried the "Mardi Gras pie", which had a Cajun cream sauce, roasted chicken, andouille sausage, peppers, onions and topped with mozzarella. It was very good and worth the $30.
Our favorite pizzas are: pepperoni, spicy pepperoni, supreme, and sausage with...
