UPDATE-07-25-2018- had to make it 2/5 instead of 3/5. There has been a reoccuring problem of no one greeting us so my boyfriend and I made a 5 minute rule on leaving if no one greeted us. We STOOD in the door area and were never acknowledged, greeted or anything. I made eye contact with a server and she walked into the kitchen and didn't come out. They did not have many tables (maybe 4-5 tables with less than 5 people). That is unacceptable for it to happen multiple times. Honestly, if someone had just said "we will be with you in a sec" or "I will be right back" but nothing. Sorry but we wont be back anytime in the near future.
Fairly standard IHOP. The new pancake sliders are amazing!! I have to give this location a 3/5 because of service. It seems every time we go in, we wait for awhile when it’s just myself and my boyfriend. Mind you we are going late evening/night time (8-9pm) during the week. We have gone multiple times because it’s the location closest to us even though we are on the MO side. There is a sign that says please wait to be seated but someone should have said something like “We will be with you in a second” or the like.
A month or so ago we waited about five minutes to be seated when we were the only ones waiting. Including us was three tables, all three people and under (still just the two of us). Multiple staff members walked in front of the divider. No one said anything, we weren’t greeted or acknowledged. We still waited and one of the team members finally came and sat us. She was polite enough but asked us for our drink order and disappeared for much longer than two waters typically take. We did not see her run food or anything so I assumed she was doing side work or something. We were ready to order but we still hadn’t seen her back with our waters. I asked another server where she might be. “Probably in the back. She’ll be out in a minute.” Close to ten minutes went by and we were starving. I asked the other server if she could get her for us. She agreed and our sever came back out. I think she was new because style of eggs and side options were not given but we gave her the benefit of the doubt-maybe a long shift. A while went by, probably 15 plus minutes and she came back without our food and then said “you still want your food right?” I nodded as if to humour her and then she brought it out.
The food isn’t bad-the night service needs a...
Read moreEdit...I have had contact with Tina and Amy in regards to this situation and they were both phenomenal. Very nice and professional. I appreciate their fast response and attention to the matter. Thank you!!
If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely atrocious behavior!!! A group of high school students arrived this evening (after calling to tell the location they were planning to come). The only kids that were served were the ones that denied they were part of the group. The first time I called I was literally HUNG UP ON, after being told the owner or manager was "Amy" and that she was unaware of her last name. The second time I called I spoke with Jessica who informed me they were short staffed and there was a miscommunication between day and night shift, and that it basically wasn't her problem, she passed the blame to the day shift. I was informed multiple times that she "is night shift" She was INCREDIBLY rude!!! I fully understand staffing issues, but to refuse to serve kids that tried to do the right thing and call ahead is unacceptable, despite the cause, and then to be rude on top of it. Perhaps explain to the young adults that the restaurant is short staffed and that service would be longer than usual and let them decide????? I asked again about a manager and was told "Tina". I was told that "Tina" would be there in the morning, but Jessica refused to give me any time frame other than "morning" stating she wasn't "allowed to give out that information". When I asked about "Amy" I was told she is "out of the country". I was also told multiple times she was trying to take someone order, so I guess at least some patrons were still being served, just not the teenagers. Absolutely disrespectful, unacceptable!! I will be contacting Tina or Amy or whoever it is that has something to do with...
Read moreI had a horrible customer service experience at the 119th street location in Overland Park Kansas. It was around 6pm when I walked into the restaurant in hope of having some dinner. I waited to be seated, which is customary for IHOP. And a male server approached me and said, “You can sit wherever, because there’s no one else here.” I mentioned the, “Wait to be seated” sign, and how the servers usually grabbed a menu and silverware, and led the customers to the dining area. No matter how many people were there.
Again, he tells me to go seat myself, because no one else is in the dining area. I go sit down, and then asked to speak with a supervisor on duty. And was told that he and the cook were it. As I headed to go use the ladies room, I see the cook lying in one of the booths sprawled out sleeping. I stood there in disbelief! And after a few seconds asked, “excuse me sir, are you the cook? He says, “Yes, I tired.” In broken English.
After the server headed to the back area, I made my get away. And as I was preparing to drive off, I see the server approaching my car, through the rear-view mirror. I immediately drive off. During my conversation with this server,, he came across as cognitively not all there. Or perhaps, under the influence of something. Very creepy!
I was later told by the restaurant manager Tina, that this server is no longer working there. However, that unpleasant experience is forever etched in my memory. And the unpredictability of not knowing what one may encounter at this location (like being told when you arrive starving, that the cook has gone home, and there’s no one else available to prepare the entrees from the menu). Is not worth the gamble.
