This park is still an outstanding place to take your kids(of any age) and even a great place for adults to enjoy other than playground amenities. The bad things I have encountered lately is a Lot of the adults that started frequently visiting. Not only do they act better than thou, some smoke weed or vape and on top of that, they don't pay attention to their children and let them get away with bad and or hateful behavior without even so much as to find out what the problem at hand is. Then as Adults they show where their child's behavior comes from by cursing at other children, teens, and adults. They act as though they own the park and show their better than thou attitude. The park belongs to the community as a whole and is supposed to be a safe place for people of all ages to enjoy and feel safe, welcome, and not taught how anyone should react in any situation. Cursing, threatening, dismissive, better than thou, etc. Attitude is why so many kids, teens etc. are so disrespectful and destructive these days. Come enjoy all the fantastic amenities, you, as tax payers, have paid for and help create for the city to build for ALL TO ENJOY & HAVE FANTASTIC MEMORIES OF.. NOT BAD OR FEAR TRIGGERED FROM FEELING SHUNNED OR UNWELCOME BY THE DRINKING, SMOKING, IMMATURE ADULTS THAT GIVE OUR CITY BAD REVIEWS AND ASSUMPTIVE DECISIONS. REMEMBER, GOD HAS A PLAN AND...
Read moreStrang Park is a wonderful, modern park, with a taste of history, to boot! At 88th and Farley, just a block south of the Central Resource Library, this park is the perfect spot to play. You can even hit up the library after, or for a needed air conditioning break!
The playground is fenced in and has many shaded spots, making it great for parents. With public restrooms, including a family change room and a drinking fountain, you won’t need to leave here for a bathroom emergency. There isn’t any dirt or sand, so you’ll stay pretty clean, but there is a water sprayer to wash off with if you need it. The playground is separated into picnic areas, a playground for the little ones, a playground for the older ones, and equipment for all ages in between. There are walking paths, tennis courts, basketball hoops, and a shelter with a grill, with a bonus book path to go with it, where you can read a children’s book while walking. My favorite feature is a part of railroad track from the Kansas-Missouri (Strang Line) Interurban Railway, that has stood the test of time, along with 4 historical panels explaining the importance of the railway and the history of the Santa Fe Trail, which ran through the area where the park stands now. Strang Park is a great place for kids, adults, and the...
Read moreGreat park with lots of wide open space. The park has a lot of features for a variety of activities. There is a well maintained tennis court (actually two courts) with a nice high fence around it. There are two half court basketball courts in the park. The playground has lot of slides and is large enough to keep any kid busy for a while. There are only two swings though, one is for infants and the other for older kids. The park features four historical makers telling the history of the surrounding area. There is even a small section of train tracks in the park near the historical markers. The park is right behind the Johnson County Central library, which is another great place to spend some time. There are a few restaurants close by if...
