I have been going to Bear Necessities for over a year, 1-3 times a week, so it's safe to say I love their coffee. However, I have many things to review so take it for what it's worth as my personal rating for this coffee shop would be a 8.7/10, coffee itself would be a 9.5/10 depending on who is making it. (See below for further details)
Coffee rating based on Barista: Jenny: 10/10 Spencer: 10/10 Hunter: 9/10 Nathaniel/Nathan: 8.5/10 Taia/Taya: 7.5/10 Taylor: 4/10
Cleanliness depends on who is working. Average day: 7/10 - Certain Baristas seem to be a lot cleaner than others, which if they are working, then I would raise to a 8.5/10.
Food (only tried pastries, not their burritos): 6.5/10 Availability of food/drinks/utensils: 7.5/10 - Tend to be out of certain items semi-regularly, such as cup sleeves and/or specific milk options.
Indoor seating: 6.5/10 - Not the most comfortable seats and had a decrepit/broken couch for many months. Outdoor seating: 2.5/10 (its disgusting but may not belong to Bear Necessities, however it's still in front of their shop)
Safety: 6.5/10 - Shelves in the way, chairs in the way, rolled carpet (tripping hazard, been there since we started going)
Bathrooms: 8/10 - Not the greatest but at least they are clean for the most part, also never been out of hygienic goods.
Final thoughts: I rate the way I do but it comes from a place of love. I will continue to go here to get my coffee and still complain about the issues. All in all, get your coffee here as it's one of the best around. Just don't mind the mess and...
Read moreEdit: Due to the business’s very thoughtful response and our conversation in person, I am putting this back to a 5 but keeping the past comments to show others. I feel this is a great demonstration of why this is my favorite coffee shop.
I’ve debated for a long time on writing a review that is not as positive as I feel this place should deserve, but I do feel I need to say something.
I am a very frequent customer. I normally get an iced latte that is usually smooth and creamy. When it’s good, it’s one of the best coffee experiences I have ever had. They even don’t charge extra for milk alternatives!
However, there is one employee who makes the coffee exceptionally bitter every time. It has gotten to the point where when I see they are working there, I get a pastry or leave. They are very nice and funny, but her pleasantries are not worth wasting my money on something that is too bitter to drink — which out of hope and desperation I have had to do many times. I had hoped that the coffee would improve over time, but it has not. It is really unfortunate because this is genuinely my favorite...
Read more☕ Bear Necessities Coffee Review -- Twice a year, while my wife is at her nearby appointment, I make a beeline for Bear Necessities (we don't live close by). It’s become my ritual: a smooth, rich Americano paired with a pastry that never disappoints.
The vibe here is exactly what you want in a coffee spot—relaxed, welcoming, and friendly. Inside, there’s plenty of seating for settling in with a book or laptop. Step outside, though, and you’ll find the real gem: a spacious, fenced-in patio that shines in crisp fall weather.
And here’s the twist—Bear Necessities isn’t just about coffee. They also serve beer and other drinks, making it a perfect spot to unwind no matter the time of day.
If you’re anywhere near the area, don’t miss it. Bear Necessities is the kind of place you’ll look forward to returning to, whether it’s part of your routine or a...
