Learn moreI got married this past October at finley farms which offered a stunning backdrop for my wedding, and the food and beverage service was exceptional, it's clear that some aspects of the planning process and the venues wedding coordinator could use improvement. Specifically, the communication and professionalism from the wedding coordinator, Kaylin, left much to be desired. From unexpected charges to rushed timelines and a lack of personalized attention, these issues detracted from the overall experience. It's disappointing that a venue associated with the high standards of Johnny Morris would have such inconsistencies. Hopefully, by sharing feedback, this can help future couples avoid similar frustrations and ensure they have a seamless and joyful wedding planning experience at Finley Farms. We used the Marley house to get ready, the ceremony was in the outdoor chapel and the reception was in the riverside room. I absolutely loved the venue as far as how beautiful it was and the food was delicious and our bartenders were awesome.I However, I did experience MULTIPLE frustrating situations primarily with the wedding coordinator Kaylin, that I think anyone considering this venue for a wedding should take into consideration. My husband and I, along with multiple family members all felt like she was not the most genuine, kind hearted person for the job. When you are planning a wedding it would be nice for the wedding coordinator to make you feel special and excited for you which was not what we experienced. She told us in order to secure our date we had to pay a deposit of $5,000. We paid it and 9 MONTHS LATER were told the accounting lady never ended up processing half of the deposit ($2,500) and we needed to give her our cc info for the second time and pay it, which was extremely frustrating considering we were under the impression it had already been paid. During our tasting my mom and dad joined and were charged $60 for them. The tasting is only for two entrees. We barely got any food, and the coordinator sat at the table with us and watched us eat which felt a little awkward. I wish she would've given us a few minutes to eat by ourselves and then came back to check in.I was also told by the wedding coordinator in the beginning that the bridal suites would be complementary, and then a few months before my wedding she told me it is only complimentary for TWO HOURS. If we wanted the marley house for an additional 4 hours it would be almost $1,000. Considering how much money we paid already, you would think the bridal suites would be complimentary for the entire morning. I was also told THE DAY OF my reception that we only get to rehearse for 30 minutes, which was not enough time. She had s booked another rehearsal right before mine, and then had a wedding immediately after my rehearsal. We had 7 bridesmaids and groomsmen so 30 minutes was very stressful and rushed which really affected the experience. When I asked her why I wasn't ever told about the 30 minute timeline, she told me it was in the contract. I then went and read my entire contract to not see ANYTHING about the 30 minute timeline. When I asked her where exactly in the contract did it say that, she then told me that it is not in the "official contract and that she tells everyone when they book a wedding about it". Which is something that I was never told until the day of my rehearsal.I will also say the day of the wedding I saw the coordinator at my ceremony and then NEVER saw her again. She never once checked in on us at the reception to make sure we were happy and everything was good. Our vegetables were served late, I wanted the lights dimmed when it came time to dance and there wasn't a single worker around to help me besides the bartenders, who were very busy. I still am very happy with our wedding and wouldn't change it, but these are some issues that I hope get fixed for...
Read moreTerrible food, kaotic service, beautiful facility. A great deal of care has clearly gone into restoring the mill, and it’s truly a beautiful asset to the community. Unfortunately, the food and overall service left a lot to be desired.
After placing our order, we waited about 15 minutes only to be informed that several of the items we had chosen were no longer available. I opted for the vegetable lasagna, which ended up being extremely dry—more like a crunchy chip than a pasta dish. My husband's chicken, while flavorful, was also very dry. We started with the frog leg appetizer, but they were so overwhelmingly salty we could barely eat them—and I’m not a picky eater.
The service staff appeared overwhelmed and undertrained. The atmosphere was disorganized, with many apologies being given to multiple tables. The general vibe among the guests was one of frustration.
Our visit to the general store was no better. The young red-haired cashier seemed genuinely inconvenienced by our presence. When we first arrived, we asked about touring the mill and were told the lights weren’t working. Later, both a hostess and a manager said they’d allow it, but the cashier refused, offering a string of excuses—starting with “it just takes too much time.” Who’s in charge here? Thankfully the hostess finally volunteered to "get it going" for us!
After our meal, we attempted to buy a few items from the store shortly before 8:00 p.m., only to be told she (same cashier ).was no longer checking anyone out with cash-despite still being open. The energy from staff clearly said they were ready to close up and go home, even though there were still customers present. We would have stayed for another drink, but it was just an odd vibe...
This place has incredible potential—it could be a truly special destination. But until the food and service are brought up to the same standard as the setting, the experience unfortunately...
Read moreWent to Finley Farms last night for dinner and let's just say it was really good. I would give it easily 4.5 stars out of 5!
I started with an old fashioned which was subpar but after talking with the waiter(Nathan) he got it swapped out with a higher end bourbon and it was much better.
Appetizer was a Prosciutto Flatbread. This was very delicious and you could taste the slightest hint of lemon on it. Nothing was too over powering and all the flavors really worked together. If I was to suggest one thing it would have been to blister the tomatoes before putting them on the bread.
My dinner was the Crispy Catfish. I just want to say that this was very fresh and oh so well battered. I could eat it with the tartar sauce or without, although I ate it with the coleslaw as the creaminess of the slaw balanced out perfectly with the fish. Then there was the 'salt/vinegar chips which didn't have a whole lot of flavor to them but man were they crispy and delicious! I will end this plate by saying the chips were perfect with the tartar sauce.
Cats dinner was Ricotta Ravioli. This plate was very balanced and very light. You could tell that the pesto was made fresh(maybe a bit too much basil in my opinion) and the Ravioli was cooked just perfectly. The Ravioli was stuffed very full with the ricotta filling. My partner in crime said "I feel full but I don't feel miserable because this dish was so light."
Peanut Butter Tart not pictured as we took it home and I didn't think of taking a picture. This dessert was oh so smooth! If you're not a peanut butter fan then I do not recommend this tart at all because it is packed with peanut butter flavor but it's not all that overwhelming when paired with the whipped cream and toffee sauce. (PEANUT BUTTER TART peanut butter mousse, oat crust, sesame...
