Gorgeous trails by the sea !!

Mori Point is a beautiful, scenic area located in Pacifica, California. The Mori Point Trail is a popular hiking path that takes visitors through coastal scrub, grasslands, and offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. This area was once used for agriculture and grazing, but over time, it has become a natural preserve, with efforts made to restore and protect its unique habitat.

The land was once owned by the Mori family, after whom the point is named. It was part of their ranch in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In the 1990s, the land was acquired by the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), and conservation efforts have since helped the area thrive as a natural sanctuary. Restoration work on the trails and habitats has created a peaceful, vibrant place for visitors to enjoy.

Why it’s a great place: Stunning Views: The trail offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, coastal cliffs, and nearby ridgelines. On a clear day, you can see miles of coastline, making it a perfect spot for photography, picnics, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature. Diverse Ecosystems: The trail goes through different landscapes, from coastal scrub to wetlands, and you can spot a variety of wildlife, including birds, flowers, and sometimes even seals or sea lions along the shore. Accessibility: Mori Point Trail is relatively easy to hike, with well-maintained paths, making it accessible for people of all skill levels. The relatively flat terrain offers an enjoyable walk for families, beginners, and seasoned hikers. Quiet and Peaceful: Since it’s less crowded than some other Bay Area trails, Mori Point provides a peaceful escape from the busyness of city life. It’s a great place for reflection, meditation, or simply enjoying the outdoors without the large crowds typical of other popular spots. Historical Significance: The area’s history and conservation efforts offer a deeper connection to the land. The restoration of the Mori Point landscape showcases the importance of preserving coastal habitats for future generations.

In short, Mori Point is a special destination that combines natural beauty, history, and tranquility, making it a must-visit for those exploring the...

Accessible trail(s) to the ocean. Options for relatively flat frontage vs walking over some short, steep hills to take in the panorama. We opted to walk to Mori Pt itself, then walked (I wouldn't characterize this as a hike unless you do the hills) on the bluffs facing the ocean and turned inland to take in the wildflowers. We thought the flowers were plentiful in early May, covering a lot of ground. But our hike leader (who's been here a bunch of times) felt it didn't satisfy, and said later in summer we might see more spectacular spreads. We went to Rockaway Beach, ascended the nearby hills (OK, this was short & steep), turned around, went by the shops and restaurants and skirted around by the road back to the parking lane. There may have more trails that could extend the hike, but we needed to get back.

There was an interesting area that the City had designated as public space for people who wanted to set up a small garden to memorialize loved ones. The space was crowded with plants and flowers, with a bench that paid tribute to the 9/11 victims. A thought-provoking area.

Overall, I enjoyed the hike. But there was sufficient residential clutter to detract from what is a pretty scenic spot, which took away the spectacle. Since this was supposed to be a wildflower hike and we came too early in the season, I would absolutely come again in the summer to see what the flowers would do for the landscape. Plus it's very accessible from Skyline Dr off Hwy 280, a definite plus for people from the South Bay.

The temperature was 60F with icy winds, while it was hot enough to require AC on the drive north. So do check the local temp since, you know, ocean...

I’ve been dreaming of finding a place like Le Café Promenade, and it feels like I’ve stepped straight into a dream! The atmosphere here is just perfect—it’s like being transported to a charming café in Italy, with a touch of that magical vibe you’d find in Disney’s Epcot.

The space is wonderfully open and filled with lush plants, cozy chairs, and soothing jazz music that isn’t too loud—just enough to set the mood. It’s the kind of place where you can lose track of time simply enjoying the ambiance.

The service? Absolutely lovely. Everyone is warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. And the coffee? Oh, it’s delicious! While it’s not the cheapest coffee in town, it’s definitely worth every penny. Plus, street parking is super easy, making the whole experience even better.

Le Café Promenade is nothing short of magical, and I can’t wait to come back again and again! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a little slice...
