What an amazing place! The customer service was the sweetest and attentive I've had in a long while. The food was so good that I was definitely going to come back and try other dishes.
It was Tuesday night. We were the only diners there, but a few patrons were sitting at the bar area.
Our server was a nice lady, genuinely. I asked for a recommendation on a pasta dish. She said the Chicken Toscana....and it was amazing! I could tell it was made to order, hot and very filling. The light sauce was flavorful with garlic, butter, and lemon. It had fresh asparagus, zucchini, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts served with angel hair pasta. Duuuuuude! Yum!! The husband ordered a steak with loaded potatoes and veggies. He said it was really good, and ate it all. I told him to cut a piece of steak and smear it around in the pasta sauce I had... he said that it was really good.
Oh ya, we started with a dinner Cesar salad. I told hubby why don't salad taste this good when we're at home. Fresh, crisp, and just enough dressing, not drowning!
Don't pass up this place! Great old school vibe, with people who know love their job and are really a great addition to the experience. I'm definitely...
Read moreWe came here for their Fri/Sat/Sun after 5pm prime rib $39. It was alright. It wasn't anything fancy. For +$3.50, you can get either a salad or soup of the day. Today was clam chowder. As for the sides, you can choose between creamed spinach or cooked vegetables, either a baked potato or garlic mash potatoes. I asked for gravy on the mash potatoes but gravy was not available. My prime rib came with a bone but my friend's didn't. Both were thick and didn't leave us hungry. As for the meat, it got tedious to eat toward the end as it was a lot food. My guess is around 16oz. The quality was OK. It is not herb crusted nor aged that long. They should have dry aged it a bit more for the enzymes to develop a more complex flavor.
As for the dining experience, no wait on a Friday night, unlike HOPR or Westlake Joe's. Vallemar Station puts glass on top of table clothes with paper napkins, yes, that kind of vibe. The bartender lady must be at least 70 years old. The waitstaff is young and energetic. There's a huge TV at the bar and also the dining room. It reminded me of how Val's in Daly City used to be, but a notch lower. Free bread. Service...
Read moreVallemar Station just needs to retire, as it's a pathetic little Pacifica eatery. It's basically a symbol for Pacifica - expensive, yet somehow still low quality, with the character of a chain smoking career waitress. The reviews mentioning food quality and service are accurate. The vast majority of the glowing reviews come from Pacificans who feel bad that this Mom n' Pop restaurant is going out of business, maybe because of nostalgia, so they write excessively positive reviews. Many Pacificans think this type of subpar food is acceptable, and also likely think Luigi's has good pizza and City Grill is awesome. Ugh. Not good food, especially at these prices... The restaurant is dirty, outdated, and needs major upgrades, though the space itself is cool (given it was a train station). This space has so much potential, I wish they would just sell the business to people who want to make it a thriving business (and who don't disdain customers or having to make food). Just retire already, Vallemar Station... the 'old Pacifica' ain't coming back, and...
