Amazing hiking experience of 6 to 8 miles in and out. We did a group hike. Do cover in layers and make sure you are able to remove them as needed. Carry water and some snack depending on how far you are going to hike. Hiking sticks recommended but not necessary if you have a good balance. The first 30 minutes there’s a steep uphill and then it’s kinda flattens out a bit. Some shady area on the. The best part is spectacular views of the ocean, SF airport, Hint of Golden Gate Bridge, San Bruno city, San Andreas lake. It’s a dog friendly park. Bike trails available in the location. Some of it is well paved and part of it is coved with loose gravel so caution while hiking downhill. Make sure to wear lighter hiking shoes for comfort. Take plenty of rest needed while climbing up the first but. Great place to explore and experience. Will do it again and definitely recommend. Parking available at the Sweeney...
Read moreParking: I parked at the bottom of the trail while the fog was still in around 10. You can park at the Orchard and should go all the way up the paved road to find ample parking.
The trail: It is a decent incline but has larger trees that you can take breaks at. I would recommend bringing allot of water and a maybe a snack. We didn’t make it to the top since kids were getting tired with the climb. Def recommend hiking shoes or sneakers as it can be a little loose on the way down.
The view: We kept looking back at the water during breaks. We turned around at 1130 and the fog had cleared. Sweeping views of the Manor district of Pacifica and Mori Point.
Warnings: No bathrooms at beginning or on the trail. There is poison oak all along the trail so direct little ones to stay on the trail and keep...
Read moreThis is the Sweeney Ridge Trailhead, not Mori Point. I've requested a name change for this destination.
For the average person, Sweeney Ridge would be classified as moderately difficult and would not recommend for anyone with walking disabilities or young children. However, if you have the courage and the leg strength to take on this mountain, I would highly recommend! Bring some thick tread shoes or boots due to the lose dirt on some of the inclines. Sweeney Ridge connects with Mori Point Trail west of Pacific Coast Hwy. Also I would highly recommend downloading AllTrails, this app is an excellent navigational resource for hiking. Best of luck!
