Delicious. Post covid quarantined, i notice on weekends there are long lines. My only ribs to go place after church on Sundays.
I miss their combo meals. Get all the sides if you don't mind spending at least $50 - $60 per person.
Once a month treat. Im one of those that like to cook our favorite meals on a sunny day off but when i see too many leftovers, i say "oh, bummer..." its gonna get tossed out at the end of the week.
So be HUNGRY! For Gorillas!
Nichole C. Hayward, CA 1822516 10/24/2022 Okay so maybe my expectations were too high or something because I was expecting so much more flavor and better overall quality. We ordered the ribs, link and brisket. (They were out of chicken) The ribs looked sooooo tasty, but the taste didn't align with how good they looked. They were a bit bland. The link tasted more like a spicy polish sausage and nothing like a link. The brisket was very dry and overcooked with no real flavor and even though I asked for extra bbq sauce several times as we ordered and even reminded her after, they did not put any extra in the bag. They give you a tiny amount of bbq sauce to cover loads of food... that sucks because I'm a sauce person.
The woman who took our order was VERY pleasant & cheerful and gave us great service so if I could rate her alone it would be 5 stars, unfortunately the food that we drove about an hour for was not worth it.
Rommel A.Elite 2022 Daly City, CA 61314963 6/15/2022 It only took me 13 years to finally try this place. I first heard about it in San Antonio, TX from a buddy when I was in the military. I told him where I was from and the first thing he ask if I had ever been to Gorilla BBQ.
My go-to is the ribs, so moist and falls off the bone. For Brisket you have the option to get it lean/fatty/mixed, I recommend mixed to see what you like. Personally I prefer fatty because sometimes the lean is a tad bit dry.
For me, the pulled pork sandwich wasn't the best, if it wasn't for the extra bbq sauce I probably couldn't have finished it. Also The bread just didn't do it for me. I took one bite and just decided to take it home. However, when I got home I put the sandwich in the air fryer to toast the bread, threw on some bbq sauce and potato salad and that made it 100x better.
If I do get the chicken I'll eat the white meat first so it doesn't dry out, but the dark chicken meat deserves a chefs kiss
If you're able to get there early I'd recommend doing so. The line gets decently long. There's a reward inside for the first person in line, hint, it's edible.
Audrey H.Elite 2022 Burlingame, CA 74258125 8/6/2022 1 photo Food is delicious, ribs are juicy and fall of the bone tender. Cons: The wait can be quite slow, there's no seating, and they only have a temporary menu currently. However, definitely would recommend if you're in the area and craving for...
Read moreLike many diehard DDD fans, I followed Guy's advise and took a road out to Pacifica on a Sunday. I was told to expect a line out the front, so at 12:30pm, they're were only about 10 people ahead of me - took about 20 minutes tops.
I'm disappointed there aren't picnic tables out front or somewhere near the vicinity. I drove down to my usual spot in Half Moon Bay so my food had cooled off a bit.
I got the two meat choice - Brisket and Hot links with cole slaw and macaroni and cheese on the side. The brisket was amazing, a few pieces with gristle but nothing I couldn't slice off. The hot links are indeed HOT but a welcome heat over the more savory options. Cole slaw is TO DIE FOR - retained the crunch of the cabbage and just right amount of sugar, wasn't mushy and "made ahead" like a lot of other places. The macaroni and cheese was MEH at best - I was really looking forward to this one but it was just crammed into a small styrofoam cup and lost the allure. Cheese flavor had a bite so you could tell they put in quality cheese varieties but the noodles were overcooked and just plain cafeteria-ish.
My mom got the two meats as well - the chicken and ribs. I warned her that her ribs are better and not to get them - she agreed after eating them. The chicken was slightly pink at the bone so we saved that part and just microwaved later at home - was perfect by then added to a small salad. We both agreed the corn bread was pretty decent. OH AND THE PORTOBELLO MUSHROOMS ARE OFF THE HOOK!!! Grilled and fresh, they will definitely be ordered again.
Best part actually is the BBQ sauce - by the end of the day, I had three little containers of it leftover in the fridge. I was making chicken sausage and vegetable stir-fry a few days later and thought "why not, let's use the Gorilla sauce." OH SNAP! was it good.
I'll give this place another try regardless of some of the...
Read moreThere are 2 good BBQ places in the area, Gorilla BBQ is one of them.
This is a man's BBQ place, not for wussy people who can't stomach tons of MEAT. I got so much food when I went there it literally was spread out across 3 nights of dinner. And I can eat, just look at my sexy belly!
They have a fairly diverse menu. I've had most stuff on it, I will come again. Some places give you a big plate of bones and smother it with sauce, not this place. It is true they may need to add more sauce at home, at least they aren't covering it all up so you can't see that you are getting a fair value for your cash.
Anyway, if you want dinner from here, better get it early before it sells out. They are so extremely popular and for good reason. It's good friendly people doing their best to make good BBQ. They pull it off well.. Not excellent OMG that is the best in the world kind of good, but pretty darn good.
The prices are reasonable unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past 3 years or are some silly poor person who whines that everything in the bay area is expensive.
Speaking of whining, they didn't open for so long because they were fighting the dreaded city council all that time trying to get permits and crap like that. well nuff said ;) it's unique, their storefront is an old boxcar, that's pretty wicked fun.
Yay, Pacifica! Support local business! We need more restaurants. Maybe if enough people develop good places to attract tourism Pacifica will finally fix all those rotten potholes...
