As a minority woman, I was disgusted by the treatment of myself and the Latinx customers by Lynn Walker at this store.
I witnessed a customer walk in without a mask, Lynn berate them, then further began to mock the customer to her coworker, saying the customer must not believe in masks. This was gross because not all stores require masks and what someone believes or not is none of her business.. The customer came back in, mask on, and was not greeted like other (white) customers were by Ms. Walker.
While processing my transaction, Ms. Walker treated me like a child, telling me how she wanted my items put on the counter, she did not do this for the white woman she served before me. She then proceeded to huff and exasperatedly sigh throughout entering my items. She gave me a total without asking if I qualified for a discount, as she with the customer prior to me (a white woman). When I requested a discount, she attempted to refuse it until I asked her if she'd like proof. I asked who the store manager was and she ignored me, I asked again and she answered so quietly it would be impossible to hear it. I asked a third time, for the first and last name and a contact number. She would only give me a first name- the name tages staff wear show both a first and last name. She overtly refused to fullfill my request. She gave me a new total, and I paid. She did not give me a receipt or thank me at the end of the transaction, she walked away leaving me unsure about the status of the transaction, until I looked in the bag and found a receipt.
This all leaves me wondering if this is just Lynn Walker being horrible at her job or of she has an outright bias towards non-white customers. The whole experience has left me feeling offended and extremely...
Read moreThink twice before scheduling a free pick up. What a colossal waste of time. Your items better be in PRISTINE condition (not close to! But PRISTINE) for them to accept. I sent their drivers away, that's how irritated I was. Eddie, the pick up driver guy's attitude was so off-putting from the moment he arrived that I asked him to leave. I didn't want to give this organization my stuff. I am not interested in this organization taking my items and treating them as if they are below or sub par, just because a glass figurine or a lamp item might have a fraction of a nick here or there (if that). Please note, I have been to thrift stores and many items are USED, meaning that they show they were owned prior to, so they might have scratches and nicks on their items (hence, the objective of a thrift store!). If you were a department store I can see needing items in pristine condition, but to berate my items and knit pick everything with a fine tooth comb, please take your snooty attitudes elsewhere. Coachella Valley Rescue Mission and Angel View will be getting all of my items. And if Eddie hates his job so much (I felt his poor attitude as soon as he pulled up) then why is he working in a job that deals with people? However, Steven Frey, the Logistics Manager was really nice to work with. Other than that, look to donate items to Coachella Valley Mission Rescue or Angel View, who aren't so snooty and actually appreciate...
Read moreToday February 21,2023. RACISM.After a busy week cleaning my garage I decided to box up some donations for angel view. But then, I remembered that Revivals was much closer so I drove straight to this store forgetting that last few times they REJECTED my humble donation due to their warehouse was “full”. To my disappointment again the clerk at the donation door REJECTED any drop off again. I’m not sure why so I decided to ask him why do they reject my donation each and every time when there’s NO SIGNS posted for NO LONGER accepting DONATIONS. ? I immediately contacte the store manager to confirm the alleged NO DONATION. To my surprise!!. The assistant manager informed me the opposite. At this time I passed on my multiple bad experiences to him and told him how disappointed and sad I was to be rejected over and over. Is it because I’m a brown person and they might think I’m coming from low income house or apartment and therefore I must not have expensive items to donate ? But again how would they know what’s inside my...
