First lunch meal about a month ago: party of 4, we all had a great lunch meal! Super service! Second Service, Dinner, 4 different people. Very poor service, food awful. Third service, 3 weeks later, to give it one last try today for lunch. Table for four, lunch. This time I took photos. I made a reservation for 4 for 11:30 a.m. only to find website, yelp, Google maps all said they open at 12. I made an emergency call at 11:30 from the parking lot, with no one in site except my guests, and I was assured 11:30 was ok. I ushered my guests in for an early Mother's Day Lunch. Pleasant service people. We finally found a table we liked (sorry staff). One diner had a Club House Sandwich with regular fries, she was happy. One diner got a measly 1/2 Sandwich with half salad, seemed fine. One diner (me) ordered a Club House Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. Halt! Fries were way overcooked. But Sandwich good! Last but not least Diner #4, a pizza aficionado, ordered the Pizza Margerita. When it arrived we all stared at in shock! Soggy, uncooked cheese pizza (still see the grated unmelted cheese), on top of which were four raw tomatoes with cheese blobbed on top. He cut apart the pizza and all the raw water and uncooked cheese and dough pooled into liquid disgungtinness (a word?). He didn't want to cause a scene so he managed to swallow down parts of two pieces. I told him that was hands down the worst pizza I'd ever seen and never would have eaten it, as did agree the 3 other diners chime in. So we gave Backstreet Bistro more that a fare shot. We will not be returning. I'm also not sure I would call it an Italian restaurant, most food was Americanized....
Read moreMy husband and I went here with a visiting friend for Sunday brunch around 11:30am. We all had a decent time there. My husband and our friend got the breakfast burrito, while I got the French toast. They ended up getting the burrito because they ran out of english muffins for they egg benedicts (sadly). Their burrito was very tasty and very different from the typical taco shop breakfast burrito filled with potatoes, bacon/ham and eggs. This burrito had black beans making it protein worthy. The French toast was okay. It had a taste of burned edges. Other than that, the French toast was good. They used a sweet batter but because of that burnt taste, it made my toast a bit bitter at some bites. The ambiance was great. Being seated by the window/patio area, it was nice seeing the outside. This restaurant is towards the start of El Paseo, so there was not to many people looking at you eat while they pass by the restaurant! The service was ok. We felt like our server was new because she did not know the menu very well (which was only 1 page) and because we had to flag her down for some condiments and the bill. When we got the bill, their mimosa was priced higher by $1 than stated on their menu. So that was disappointing. I did mention it to her and she was nice and removed the extra charges. Overall, it was a nice brunch but not the normal brunch buzz that we normally get from other brunch-known restaurants. Though brunch was not a hit for us, we do plan to try it out for dinner because maybe they may be more lively at different...
Read moreTalk about finding surprises in the desert! This is exactly how I would describe backstreet bistro, hiding behind Staples of everywhere, Fudd.
This is quickly become my favorite restaurant in all of the Coachella Valley, not only is the food, so incredibly amazing! And when I say amazing, what I really mean is that every bite has dynamic flavor, I need to keep trying new dishes, I’m getting stuck, because I’m falling in love, with a chicken marsala.
What else I love about backstreet bistro is the Service, Diane is the first person I get to see when I walk in that greets me, and I feel so welcome, like I belong. This is quickly become the place that I turn to to dine out when I’m in town.
I feel as if I’m a VIP, having the most incredible experience, and I think that’s exactly how you’re going to feel when you’re here.
I hope you’ll take the time to leave a review as well, this restaurant deserves 10 out of 10, I wish I could give it...
