This is the best Japanese food I've had in a long time. My husband and I wanted some Japanese food and just decided to give them a try. I'm so glad we did. We went on a Saturday evening, and although they were pretty busy, we were seated right away. We ordered shrimp and vegetable tempura, and it was delicious, very fresh, and full of flavor. The shrimp melted in our mouth, and the tempura coating had just the right amount of crunch. My husband ordered the California roll and the salmon roe and loved it. I ordered the cucumber roll and sea bass...fantastic! I just have to say their Wasabi is killer! Just like I like it, when it clears your sinusus and turns your face beet red just before your brain blows up. It was great. I had to get a refill twice. We're not sushi connoisseurs, but I know fresh when I taste it. The sushi bar was busy the entire time we were there, so that says something about their sushi. They have a little beer and wine (only by the bottle) menu, and they don't serve cocktails, but who cares when the food is this great. It's a small place, on the quiet side which we enjoyed. It's a very clean restaurant and it stayed busy the entire time we were there. Our waitress was prompt in taking our order and was very helpful in answering any questions we had. The food came in a timely manner, and it was piping hot. It was very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and the excellent service. As I said, we just stopped in on a Saturday evening without reservations. It was very busy but surprisingly we were seated right away. We found a parking spot right in front of the restaurant, but there's plenty of parking in close proximity to the restaurant. It was a nice surprise to find this little gem in the desert. We've already decided this will be a regular stop when we're in town. I highly recommend trying this little place. You won't be...
Read moreThis is the real deal - the only top notch sushi in the Palm Springs area. It's popular with locals and the way I noticed it was driving by at 5:00 there was a line of older people waiting to get in right when they opened the doors. Good sign.
Service was a bit dictatorial probably because it was so busy and they had to keep things moving but the host (maybe wife and owner) was nice even though she was firm. She just had a ton of patrons to manage. I saw 5-10 parties get turned away since no resy for the short time I waited for my spot to clear.
Sushi bar - it took a while to eat since they were so busy. Chefs had their hands full. Also full menu is not available at the sushi bar. On to the sushi - excellent fish. Right up there with best I've had at some of the high end sushi restaurants on either coast- all in an unassuming old school atmosphere. Nothing fancy but yellowtail, tuna, aji, ikura, uni, mackerel, sweet shrimp were all wonderful. The uni was very special. I also loved my negihama roll. Oh expect to pay handsomely for what you get.
Take out pork tonkatsu was good also. Had a delicious hot mustard along with the sweet sauce.
Don't go here if you're looking for a Philly cheese roll. There's another restaurant somewhere else for that kind of sushi. Go here for great nigiri and the...
Read moreI was there celebrating my grandaughters birthday. There were 5 of us. And as soon as we walked in, we were seated within 5mins. 6 Sushi rolls were all we ordered. They neglected to tell us that we were going to have to wait longer for sushi. And not after over an hour, the waitress told us if we wanted to order an appetizers because they haven't made our sushi rolls yet! She decided after an hour to tell us!? So we had to get something to eat at this point, so we had misu soup. And right when we got our soup, they finally brought our rolls!!! Not only were they very late making our rolls, but paid for extra soups that we didn't have to order if it was co.ing at the same time they served the rolls! Also I had to ask for refills on our drinks because they neglected to do that too! Overall, I wasn't pleased with this experience! It was recommended buy one of my clients because my grand daughter wanted sushi for her birthday, so we gave it a shot. And was very disappointed with...
