Don’t even bother coming here or ordering furniture from this store if you want 1) transparency 2) open communication 3) to be valued after your card is swiped or 4) expect any level of customer service at all.
After you pay and sign their extremely damning and bonding contract (that you hope you won’t need to worry about), you don’t seem to matter to them anymore.
Buckle up because now you can just be pushed off repeatedly. Deadlines and delivery dates will be pushed back again and again and you will have to chase people down to get them to communicate with you. When you do get a real person (not some automated message every few weeks) good luck getting an actual clear answer. Finally, you may learn 1) the store ordered the very exact same couch you have been waiting months for to use as a floor model in their showroom 2) that their order was placed AFTER YOURS) 3) they received the same couch weeks prior, AND 4) that they didn’t even bother to call you to offer you the floor model when it came in (fully knowing yours was late because you had checked on it weekly after the “latest date” promised had passed). You’ll only find this out later after you call to ask for a manager because your communications are pushed off and obviously low priority. The couch you have been waiting months for has been sitting at the store as a floor model for weeks while they can’t seem tell you why yours is delayed or when it will really come. They will claim they didn’t call you because the decorative pillows you didn’t even want weren’t in the same color you chose for yours when you ordered. As if that is enough of a reason to make you go another month with no living-room furniture. If you are enough of a bother, they then will offer you the used publicly farted on floor model for no discount. Yep, full price.
Finally, when you are so upset that you question if you’re having a night terror, because surely this isn’t real, and in this night terror you STILL have no furniture, you’ll be told that, if you want to cancel, you have to pay a “restocking fee” of 30% of your entire order for a couch they don’t even have in stock / that has yet to even leave the factory. At this point, you will pinch yourself to see if you’re dreaming. You’ll wish you were, but you aren’t. Then, you’ll remember that pesky “get out of jail free” paperwork you signed when you bought the furniture.
They might throw a measly $100-200 at you (which isn’t even 10% of what you spent to begin with), but overall, you’re screwed and they know it and they treat you as such. If you beg for some semblance of genuine care or customer service they’ll just mail you a pitiful $50 gift card to the store you never want to see again even though you tell them you specifically do not want that.
The only choice you will have is to wait for your furniture to come in multiple weeks to months later than promised, pay full price, be gaslit, and like it. Even corporate will tell you “maybe you’re mistaken and the couch you saw on the showroom floor in person that you were told was indeed the exact couch you ordered by the store manager themself… isn’t actually the same couch.” (Spoiler alert: when my couch finally came in I did verify with my own eyes that it was indeed the same couch the whole time.)
If I could give zero stars I would. This is the one and ONLY time they will ever get my money. I haven’t been gaslit and negated this hard since I was with my ex. You’d think for being an “employee owned business” this place would offer better service and more integrity, but if you thought that then you’d be wrong. Basically, this experience has soured me so much and caused so much distain for this store that my newfound fiery rage and seemingly endless disappointment could fuel the plot line of a 3 book trilogy at this point.

TLDR: If a store makes you sign a sketchy contract don’t buy from them. This is one of those stores. Go somewhere else because the experience here sucked and they make you feel like you don’t matter as soon as they...

01/31/2025 My sales person Mary was absolutely awesome but when I called in on Friday to try to pay the remaining balance it was just a run around. Can’t pay it off by phone, they will send me a link but they are with a customer, an hour and a half later same damn thing when I called back. Called back again and spoke to a salesman to try to speak to my original sales person and he was no help and Mary wasn’t there either. He said he would talk to finance and I asked is there only one person working finance and said yeah until noon. My remark is maybe I should just get a refund of what I’ve already paid and just say never mind on buying it. It would’ve taken 2 minutes to send the text to the link. 01/31/2025 Edit: This was the remainder of my experience after paying it off. And let’s not start the hassle about getting it delivered or picked up. They advised me they couldn’t deliver until February 6th so I figured I’d pick it up since it is in stock, and I figured that meant right there where I could take it home, WELL IT ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT MEAN THAT. Edit: Todays experience 02/01/2025 And now they’ve called me twice to try to get me to remove this review. The first call they offered me $100 in store gift card. I told Katie I don’t intend to shop there ever again. Also let me not forget that Katie wanted to argue with me about their reviews and how many stars they have and I advised her that I’ve seen several bad reviews and she said are they from recent I said I don’t know and a customer doesn’t care how long ago it was. It could’ve been last year sometime and they will still take that into consideration. She then said well I will go talk to someone and call you back and see if I can do anything else. Then the second time she called she offered me 5% back on my purchase which comes to like 30 something dollars, my purchase was over $700 before taxes, and the protection plus plan was another $200 and to take the nasty already sat on gross plush upholstery all smashed down floor model home. LIKE HOW DISGUSTING, I DONT KNOW WHATS BEEN SITTING ON THAT. If I could remove one of the stars, for the attempt at silencing me as well as offering me a NASTY USED CHAISE, I would. What kind of place offers you their used sat on furniture. You don’t know what has been sitting on that. The plush is all greasy looking and feeling and all smashed down. THE AUDACITY THAT YOU WANTED ME TO BASICALLY PAY NEW PRICE FOR A USED CHAISE!!! If I chose to take the floor model instead. WOW!!! JUST WOW!!!!
UPDATE 02/01/2025 So, towards the end of my day I was contacted by Jordan the General Manager of the store and he immediately apologized because he knew I was at work and asked if there was a more suitable time he could call me back. After I finished my work day Jordan called so I decided to just go to the store and meet with him. After a thorough conversation and both of us voicing our concerns we found an amicable solution. Jordan took the time to find out what happened and where his employees went wrong, and try to find a solution that worked well for me, more so than anything else. He didn't try to fit my issues or the solution to it in some kind of mold that had a pre made solution. Please understand I improved there star rating for a few reasons, first of all the speed with which they handled the situation is a big one. This means they are paying attention and they want to resolve the problem not just ignore it and throw it on the back burner somewhere. Secondly, how quickly they moved the incident up to the General Manager to get it resolved. Lastly, because Jordan didn't care if I improved the review, deleted it, or just left it the way it was with no update, that means more than anything. This is a business that wants full transparency and wants to be honest with their customers. Now the real question, will I shop Big Sandy again? I will and I'm happy that I can and that this issue has been resolved...

My wife and I began having issues with our washer leaking, dryer not spinning, and burning through belts one after the other so we decided to stop into this store on a day I had off. We go in, look at some washer/dryer combos and this guy walks up to us…. He’s the only one that wore a suit that day in that department so he stuck out like a sore thumb. He also decided to have so much oil in his hair I could see the shine a mile away. We tell him that we’re just browsing for right now and we’ll check back. Well, typical sales guy fashion he kept talking to us and wouldn’t exactly leave us alone. During this conversation he made some fairly sexist remarks to my wife so we decided to leave this department a little cranky and look at some furniture that we also would like because of our current furniture getting fairly worn. We bumped into Mark Nutter. Oh Mark, we love you. You would ask us how we were doing, move on, and just check in to see if we needed anything. Mark took the hint. We worked with him the rest of our visit and the store manager, explained our visit and the manager was very apologetic about our experience (yay manager!).
Fast forward, we go back because I’m not feeling quite so excited about a chair that we had picked out on layaway so we went to test-sit some chairs…. I’m a fluffy fella, so we wanted something that could stand to the situation. We wandered while I was in the phone with a coworker and found Haley (apologies for spelling, this girl fancies her boots instead of dress shoes…. Haley, stand up for everyone). Haley told us she was Mark’s protege that he’s helping train. Haley was wonderful, not pushy and very helpful. We found some chairs that fit better, made the exchange painless and was out of their in plenty of time to even snag some lunch before we had to be home to get the kiddo off the bus on a two hour delay.
Our only regret with Mark and Haley is that they are stuck in one department and can’t sell other things to us.
PS- to Haley’s manager, let the girl wear some cute boots and feel more...
