Usually reserve opinion on a record shop until I've had a chance to visit a few times and get a sense of whether that first impression was accurate or not but this one felt special and, unfortunately, it's going to be a while before I have a chance to step back in. Spun through during a trip to Cleveland with a friend. It was the last shop (of about 7 or 8) that we managed to hit while in town. Almost didn't bother making the trip after being somewhat underwhelmed by a couple of other spots dotting the city but were so very, very glad that we did.
New and used selections were beautifully curated, prices were fair (new imports under Discogs and plenty of solid, clean, used finds under $10), the folks working there were both friendly and tremendously helpful, and it had that sort of atmosphere that invites hanging around for hours on end that's just such an intangible bonus. Read moreI'm a vinyl newbie, and to be honest I was a bit intimidated walking into a record shop (I don't hold a candle to audiophiles/purists as I only recently bought a record player for the nostalgia factor and am new to the whole vinyl scene), but oh my goodness was I pleasantly surprised! The owners are literally some of the nicest, most down-to-earth people I've ever met. The moment I walked into their shop I felt immediately welcome. I was greeted warmly and given a tour, and I loved perusing their incredible selection of diverse albums at reasonable prices. I ended up leaving with a handful of records, and greatly appreciated the reusable bag they provided in lieu of plastic plus the vinyl/equipment care info they directed me to on their website. This is truly a gem of a local store and I'm looking forward to returning....
Read moreThis record shop is the kind of store record collectors love. Small, but chock full of amazing jazz, rock, funk, country....and the grooviest luxuria collection I've ever seen. The vinyl is clearly marked with condition, genre and price. The owners are knowledgeable, kind and will help you find the exact thing to add to your collection, OR the perfect things to start your collection, as they offer an array of players, speakers and other cool audio equipment. TCY also offers a large selection cassette tapes, VHS and other "vintage" recordings. There is just so much awesomeness packed into this small business. It is absolutely worth your time to check them out! I also recommend following them on Facebook or YouTube as they post new arrivals and host fun...
