They have moved to a drive thru only service, the dining room is closed indefinitely. Could be covid related but that really wasn't important to me, I never went there for the atmosphere. This used to be my favorite hot dog place with maybe a dozen different hot dog menu options. Unfortunately they paired down the menu to the point where it's basically just 3 types of hot dog types and 4 non traditional toppings (I consider ketchup, mustard and onion condiment Staples for any Burger or hot dog joint). When I pulled up to the drive-thru, there weren't all the specialty dogs they used to have. When I asked where the list was on the menu they said they've cut their menu down a lot and that they could make something if I could tell them what the ingredients were... if they even had them. No more Windy City Chicago dog, Tail Wagger, Firecracker, etc. Now I'm sure some of the specialty dogs you could create using the limited condiment options they have now, but the best and most interesting ones, which is why we always made the trip, you can't. You can get a hot dog with basic ingredients anywhere, the best thing about this place was the menu of specialty dogs. I'm sure part of the reason has to do with covid and ingredient shortages or being able to find staff that wants to work in a hot dog diner and can actually read a menu and put together a dog with more than just basic ingredients. I feel for a small businesses like this that have had to make serious cuts and compromises just to try to stay afloat. Unfortunately in this case, the stuff that was cut were what made it so unique.

This iconic Cleveland landmark recently changed hands with the family of the original owners taking over. The location itself definitely need some updating, kind of grungy, smelly with fryer Grease Etc but the menu is very eclectic, service was very good, the place was busy at lunch, and the menu selections offered different size servings of hot dogs Etc. I had the hillbilly dog which had chili and coleslaw and I can say that the hot dog itself was awesome a nice crispy outside hot inside chewy texture and good quality. The sandwich was messy but very enjoyable. So good to see people in the Parma area supporting this restaurant as the new owners take over and make improvements. I can definitely recommend.

Came in with the family yesterday to get a quick bite and we were not disappointed. All the food is really flavorful and the restaurant has a very unique feeling. Also it’s cool that the building is that of an old-styled Taco Bell! They have a huge array of different flavored ketchups, mustards, and BBQ sauces which you have to try. I personally really loved the Sriracha Mustard. It was delicious on top of one of their Coney dogs! The fries and made fresh with a really delicious coating of garlic butter as well. Yum! My brother did however recommend that the Pierogi Burger have two pierogis instead of just one. But other than that, if we in Cleaveland again, we’d totally stop on my by again !

August 9, 2025:

Hillbilly Dog—delish. Chicken Sandwich—I’m not a big fan of chicken, partial to my Mom and sister’s—-that being said, I’d order again. Onion rings—-tasty Big Parma burger—this was also very tasty. Peach lemonade-just the right amount of peach to lemon. Tots—-what can I say??? Hot Dig Diner has the best tots. My only “complaint”—needs more chili on the hillbilly dog.

June 21,2024::

Update update update. AS GOOD AS I REMEMBERED——So glad it stayed in the family!!!!!!

I ordered both the East and West side polish boys, tits and fries(sharing fries). The one with onions, kraut and mustard was delicious!!!!! Well worth the wait since I was looking at it at 4:00 p.m. had a few fries and tots———-fortunately the dog doesn’t like fries or tots. So all mine. And I’m going to enjoy the one with fries and BBQ sauce……and tots…..

April 4, 2024: 3rd update

I had an order of tots and the French onion soup, burger, (?) delivered last night, because I was starving and wanted to try this hamburger for months. It was worth the wait. Again, even though previous owners have sold company, the food is up to the same standards. Which is probably because it was sold to someone of the family.

The hamburger was extremely tasty, good seasoning, the concept is ridiculous. But it works. And as always, hotdog diner, has the best tater tots in Cleveland

June 23—update again:

I stopped by and took my lunch and dinner to go. I ordered a jumbo dog with sauerkraut, a large fry, and a pierogi burger. Needless to say I enjoyed my jumbo dog with Kraut, tremendously. To the point that I am stuffed. And it was worth every bite. And I am so looking forward to having my pirogi burger for dinner. And sidenote to myself, next time order the small fries. Love this place!!!!

Every time I have gone to the Hot Dog Diner, I have had nothing but excellent food and service. I know the owners. I know how they train their staff. They are a gem to the city of Parma. I have never had a bad meal. Ever. This tiny little shop puts out amazing food, has wonderful employees, and probably the best owners. I have never ever heard a bad word about the place. My thanks for staying open during these difficult times, making delicious food, at very reasonable prices. I will be back,...

Ate here for the first time over the weekend after hearing about this place.

We each got a hot dog with chili and onions, fries and onion rings.

Chili was fine. Not a sweeter chili like some other places but good. Onions looked fresh.

Hot dogs were good. Soft buns which is always nice! Will definitely order again!

The fries were a bit too over cooked. I don’t usually care for over cooked fries because it changes the taste but they still seemed fine. Crispy as well which is good. They looked fresh cut. Would order again.

There was a slight problem with the onion rings and I wouldn’t even say it’s the restaurants fault but some of the rings get oil trapped in them so when you take the first bite a lot of oil poured out. I know they have to be fried in oil to be cooked so not sure what could change to fix that, like I said, not necessarily their fault. After the first one we just kinda broke a hole in the breading to sort of drain it if it had oil trapped inside. They were still crunchy and tasted great, would definitely still order again!

The employees were quick to get to us. Food came out quick. It wasn’t busy while we were there so they kinda just hung out outside of our view doing whatever, one cleaning windows. They all seemed nice. The guy who took our order even let us know about some items available but not on the menu yet.

Overall will definitely be back to try more stuff and will likely become a place I stop at to bring something home when...
