Armadilla Lanes — Attraction in Pasadena

Super disappointed with this location. Our family decided to go bowling after getting together for an early lunch at a nearby restaurant. There were eighteen of us, so we had quite a large group. We usually go to AMF Alpha Lanes in Webster, but this one was just down the street.

First issue, is that they charge $35 per hour, not per game. Although I've never heard of charging per hour, we went ahead and paid for three lanes. Shoe rental was about $3.50, as expected. We were having a good time when halfway through the game, our hour was up.

The lady in the kitchen was very rude. I was standing in line behind my niece, who was ordering food. Her total came out to be $4.50. She handed the lady her debit card, and the lady laid it on the counter, slid it back to her in an irritated manner and said, "$5 minimum". She said okay, what do you have for a dollar? The lady pointed up and said "There's the menu." Her demeanor was very rude. I didn't appreciate her tone with my niece, so I decided not to order anything.

The facility was clean, but dated, and rundown. Very small "arcade", with only a few games. Maybe AMF Alpha Lanes in Webster, Dave & Busters, and Main Event have spoiled us, lol. When our families go bowling, we order two or three games at least, order lots of food, drinks, a pitcher or two or three of beer... lol. The kids are always running to the arcade. All this takes longer than an hour.

Although I've never been to a bowling alley that placed a time limit on their games, I could almost understand it if this were during a peak time, but we were there about 2pm, and we were one of maybe four other families bowling.

This place needs to step up their game before they strike out for good. We will not be returning to any Armadilla bowling alley...

Way overpriced for this outdated joint. On weekends it is the same price as Main Event (excluding shoes), and this was the only reason we came was because Main Event was booked for bowling, however we should have stayed there for the downtime and food. For three foam cup sodas it was was almost 6 dollars! No free refills. Can't bring outside food or drinks. It's really sad because this place has been around for a long time but management needs to be more open-minded and take risks, she needs to realize that even though they partner with local schools for their bowling teams is not going to save this place. Understaffed to the core with lack of organization. Also, don't look for employment here. They seem to always have something going on, cutting hours short for public bowling. I only gave it 2 stars because even though we got to stay for only 1 hour we were still able to bowl and that portion made it tolerable. But the experience and my money's worth would have been better if 1) organization of bowling balls 2) updated environment and menu 3) offer mixed drinks. 4) take off the tacky paper announcements - use your TV screens to make announcements 5)hire worthy cooks. This whole 'it's always been this way or if it aint broke don't fix it ' mentality is just lazy and will drive customers away. This needs to be fun local place where people can come enjoy, instead many have to drive downtown or Webster for the good stuff now. Incredibly frustrating with local...

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!! My entire family came out for a birthday party and were treated with no respect from the moment we entered this establishment. They were really short with us not explaining the pricing so in the end all of our children were charged as adults and we still had to pay for those who didn’t bowl. The white woman with blonde hair and bangs threw a few pairs of shoes at my family instead of handing them to us when we had our hands out. We were told they would kick us out at 5:30 because they had a party of 50 coming in when over the phone she told us we no reservations. No outside food or drinks but they were unable to make half of the menu due to the fryer not working. We asked for a drink and the bartender said she couldn’t make it but a group of white people were able to get it made a few mins after we were told no. The front desk lady was just watching us the entire time we were there it was extremely uncomfortable. Even through all that we still said our thanks but were given no response and an eye roll. Super unprofessional, terrible service and poor quality food. WILL NOT...
