La Pintoresca Park, 1930 1355 North Raymond Avenue Primary Architectural Style: Spanish Colonial Revival Architect: Bennett & Haskell (library architect); Theodore Payne & Ralph Cornell (park landscape architects) Builder: H.E. Taylor Context: Period Revival Architecture Original Owner: City of Pasadena Original Use: Library Designated in 1986 La Pintoresca Park is a public park built in 1925 to a design by Ralph D. Cornell & Theodore Payne, incorporating features from the grounds of an 1888 hotel that formerly occupied the site (the Painter Hotel – later renamed La Pintoresca Hotel - perimeter retaining wall, steps and many of the mature trees on the site). The park includes large areas of lawn, mature trees, a perimeter rock retaining wall and steps, play areas, a tennis court and a skate park. Buildings on the park site include a public library, two power substations (one of which has been converted to an educational use) and a former fire station, also converted to educational use. The park also has a pergola, constructed in 2003, in roughly the center, which is a new design referencing an original pergola that was in the same location. Located on the entire block of East Washington Boulevard between North Fair Oaks and Raymond Avenues in the northwestern portion of the City of Pasadena. The property is within a major commercial corridor at the edge of a single-family residential neighborhood and consists of a single 4.4-acre lot.

This skatepark is not crowded and located within a neighborhood green park with playgrounds and paved paths. Large shady trees and shrubs are nice and families are enjoying the plentiful park benches. There are no bathroom facilities. The skatepark itself backs onto a baseball field and both have tall chain-link fencing. So the 4 foot wide space between has trash and beer bottles. The 25 foot space behind has a small utility building with artsy graffiti which is cool but it smells very bad of urine around that side. A few homeless on south and west side of park so just be careful. The houses surrounding 3 sides of park are a quaint...

A cute little park next to an adorable library, across from the projects that has been totally revamped in the last two years. Normally, a police helicopter is circling at some point during your visit, loud music is blaring, colorful language is being sworn & the skaters are getting high. My kids & now grandkid have all enjoyed this sometimes...
