The Post is hands-down my favorite climbing gym in LA. My Batcave. My sanctuary. My “I’m skipping therapy and climbing instead” solution.
I’ve been coming here for years. I've brought my daughter, my Meetup crew (sometimes 20+ people), and even a few dates. If they ever start charging me rent, I’m gonna need a corner with a mini fridge.
I host Meetups here pretty often. If you see a guy in a hat with a climber’s logo on it wrangling climbers and giving tips between burns, that’s probably me.
I also bring my daughter here once a week. It’s our thing. She lives full-time with her mom, so this is our time to bond. Just the two of us, climbing, laughing, and challenging ourselves. Honestly, it’s been one of the best ways to stay close. Watching her progress is better than any parenting book I’ve read.
Huge shoutout to Govan (hope I’m spelling that right) for teaching her how to belay. Super calm, knowledgeable, and the kind of person you want holding the other end of the rope. Literally and metaphorically.
The vibe at The Post? Very cool, very chill. Music’s upbeat, routes stay fresh, and the community’s friendly and focused. They even post new sets on Kaya for the tracking nerds like me. Kaya will notify you when new routes go up—perfect if you like to project or track sends.
Cleanliness: top notch. Regularly rotated holds, non-sketchy mats, and more than one woman in my group has praised the bathrooms. If you climb, you know that’s a rare thing to hear.
Parking: lot fills up during peak hours. I usually park on the street and it’s been fine. Friends who circle the lot usually find a spot with a little patience.
Some reviews mention unsupervised kids running around... I haven’t had that issue myself.
Would I recommend The Post? Absolutely. Whether you’re solo, bringing a kid, on a date, or organizing a Meetup—this place delivers. It’s clean, well-run, welcoming, and feels like home (if home had 40-foot walls and smelled like chalk...
Read moreI've been meaning to write a positive review of The Post Climbing Gym since I became a member last year and then this week something amazing happened there and I knew I HAD to write an review to express how awesome this place is. So I was in the gym doing a workout on the Stairmaster machine and when oops, one of my Aipods dropped down INTO the machine. D'oh! I went down to tell the staff about it and Jenna who was visiting from another one of Touchstone's gym in Burbank jumped into to help, grabbing a screwdriver and fearlessly bounding up the stairs to the machine. I thought all hope was lost and that my overpriced birthday gift Airpods would be gone forever (and of course I don't have Apple care for them) but NO. Jenna is a JEDI with a screwdriver and she was so patient and she carefully unscrewed 3 different plastic outer panels to finally reveal my lost item! I was so grateful I hugged her. But this isn't a review just about Jenna, this is a review of the entire gym, they clearly hire AMAZING sweet helpful, knowledgable people. I'm a beginner climber and my son really wanted to learn how to climb so I recluctantly signed up for a Intro to Belay class, it happened to be a slow night there and I was the ONLY student in the class. Lucky for me Jabari was my instructor and I got a private lesson from him in the art of climbing. I then passed my test on the first try (I was shocked) and my son was so proud of me because I can now belay him on the amazing rocks they have at The Post. The place is SO friendly to everyone (very LGBTQ+ friendly which is so RAD), I can just feel the good vibes from the staff and the clients every time I'm there. Also big shout outs to Jen, Chantel and Josh and the rest of the staff that I don't know their names yet. I feel so grateful that The Post opened up in my...
Read moreI recently visited this modern climbing gym and was impressed by its contemporary design, featuring numerous large holds and skilled route setters. The gym offers a variety of enjoyable climbs with unique moves like running jumps/ pizza delivery moves and creative sequences. Although I didn't have the opportunity to try the lead walls due to my limited time, they all looked visually appealing, with an emphasis on big holds and aesthetically pleasing routes.
However, I must mention a few drawbacks of this gym. Firstly, the price of a day pass without gear is quite steep at $30. Additionally, for competitive climbers who are accustomed to the modern movement seen in today's world cups and training centers, this gym may feel lacking. There is no spray wall, and while they have a 2019 moon board, it would have been preferable to have a more up-to-date version from 2016.
In terms of route features, the gym could benefit from incorporating screw-on feet and duel texture feet to provide more options for climbers. Bad feet are not seen on any of the routes in the entire gym. The absence of volumes throughout the entire gym limits the potential for creative route setting. Another concern I had was with the grading system. I encountered situations where I flashed multiple V7s but struggled with certain moves on the V5s. It would be helpful for the gym to have a higher emphasis on forerunning.
Despite these shortcomings, I believe this gym is well-suited for the average consumer, provided they can afford it. The staff members are friendly, the facility is new and clean, and overall, I had a good time during my visit over the...
