Another of the wonderful covered bridges of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The South Perkasie Covered Bridge was preserved and moved many years ago when a larger bridge was constructed. The park is located in town near the creek in close proximity to where the bridge originally spanned the creek. The low rating is a result of the condition of the surrounding park grounds. Trash was present all over. The creek bank was sad with trash and broken glass. Parking was virtually non-existent. The county's historic collection of 12 covered bridges are too cool, but this one is in need of a volunteer clean up day.

South Perkasie Covered Bridge was built in 1832, making it the oldest covered bridge in Bucks County. The bridge once spanned Pleasant Spring Creek but was moved to its current location at Lenape Park in 1959, and set up for display purposes. After being heavily damaged in 2021 by Hurricane Ida, there is currently an ongoing effort to restore and save South Perkasie Covered Bridge. The bridge is not accessible to the public.

To the town of Perkasie.. you have a beautiful piece of history that you have neglected. I understand that it was damaged two years ago but to leave it in disrepair with a chain link fence around it is just so sad. The bridge is listed on Google maps as something unique to see in the area, but what I saw was shameful on the part of your town. I've used photo editing just to try to make it look better because it was so sad.
