My first step in shopping for an engagement ring was a quick google search. I was hoping to find a local store as opposed to a "big box". I wanted this large, once-in-a-lifetime purchase to be made with a more personal buying experience. All that being said, I am definitely a cost conscious person, and also wanted the best deal possible. However, I was not willing to sacrifice on quality. In other words, I wanted it all, and that's exactly what I feel I received at McGivern Diamonds. Honestly, after reading the outstanding google reviews spanning YEARS, I decided to stop into the store one afternoon on my lunch break and check it out. I was so comfortable with Mike and his staff, if I had known exactly what I wanted out of the ring, I would have bought it that day. I never went anywhere else. I found the prices to be right in line with what I was expecting (perhaps even less) and the quality and GIA certifications were a must to help make me confident I was buying the best. All this to say, Mike and I emailed back and forth for a couple weeks as he helped me select the perfect ring. I returned to the store once more to make the purchase, and again 2-3 weeks later (exactly as promised) to pick up the ring. I'm not one to take the time to write reviews (though I rely on them heavily when making purchases), but this one deserves to be written. Mike and his team are fantastic. My experience at his store was top-notch, and my bride-to-be got the ring of her dreams. I had such a great experience with my first diamond purchase from Mike for a matching diamond to complement my old engagement ring that I was turning into a pair of earring and without any hesitation, I emailed Mike again when it came time for another diamond purchase.

I had a budget in mind that I wanted to spend on a 2+ carat cusion cut diamond with a customized platinum halo setting and Mike went above and beyond in finding me the perfect stone to go with my customized setting, which the designer did a fabulous job on. I've been getting nothing but raved reviews on the final ring and that always makes a girl happy.

Mike's prices are very competitive and if anything, probably cheaper than his competitors when I was looked around for prices. What makes Mike stands out a mile from his competitors is his prompt and honest response and opinion. He doesn't just want you to buy from him once, he wants to build a long term relationship with all his customers and I'm happy to say I'll be emailing him again when it comes time to another diamond purchase.

I feel like buying jewelry can be a little intimidating since there are so many options out there, but McGivern will be my only stop going froward. The owner worked DIRECTLY with me by first asking lots of questions so he could really understand what I was looking for, then provided enough options where I felt comfortable making a decision but not too many where I was overwhelmed. And it's important to note that this was for a relatively inexpensive Valentines day gift so I can only image what he does for someone shopping for something like an engagement ring. To top it all off, much of the conversation was done online which made it super easy! I don't often leave reviews but when I have a great experience like this I want to make sure other people know about it.
