Extra Virgin-Lamplight Cafe & Bakery — Restaurant in Perrysburg

I usually don't leave reviews...But I had such a horrible experience here that I had to say something. I love the food. I come here all the time on my lunch break and have been waiting to bring my wife here. So today I finally bring my wife here , and the waitress (Summer) was very cold,and acting short with us. At first I thought maybe she was just busy, but soon realized every encounter with her was just attitude,zero manners. This isn't how someone in hospitality should act. The way she treated us made us feel that maybe it was because my wife is African American. And my wife literally broke down crying after we left. Then I get home and start reading reviews and I notice that other people have left bad reviews about Summer. Doesn't say hello,doesn't say goodbye, doesn't ask how you want your food,or checks on you. Just throws your menus down, asks what you want and that's it. Nothing but dirty looks,short attitude. Made us extremely uncomfortable. I've been here with friends dozens of times and never had this experience with her, so why does she act like this when I bring a African American person with me? I wonder if the other people leaving bad reviews on here about Summer were also African American? I'm disgusted at the way she treated us,and I'm even more disgusted at the fact that we tipped her. But here's a tip for the restaurant owners: Read your reviews on here, and look at how many are about your waitress Summer, and all of the customers saying the same exact things. This restaurant has amazing food, but has the absolute worst waitress I've ever seen in my life. And I don't care how good the food is, I'll never give my money to someone that treats their customers so horrible. If you don't enjoy working in hospitality, and you can't be hospitable, then find a new job. It's a small town and word travels fast around here, only a matter of time before people stop going here because of your waitresses...

Well the Lamplight / Virgin restaurant has been open for a few months now. I have eaten there for breakfast and lunch a few times so far and one thing is absolutely clear.

The elderly in Perrysburg have zeroed in on this place like white on rice, and dots on dice.

If you didn't know any better you would SWEAR that this is a dining room for a retirement home. No joke, it is PACKED with old people.

It's no secret why...

This restaurant has some of the cheapest food around, BAR NONE!

Their customer base has absolutely no problem at all taking advantage of this fact and comes here in droves to save a buck all the while having the company try to survive off of the slimmest of profit margins. Why should they care anyway, if Lamplight goes out of business they can move on to the next cheap place to eat.

I would LOVE to see what kind of tips the servers get here... it can't be much. I mean really, the average check is puny, and when I look around.... I don't exactly see big tippers in the place. My heart goes out to the waitstaff.

Anyway, it's a restaurant, lets talk about the food and decor shall we?

It's OK.

But nobody comes here for the food really..... they come for the cheap food.

Basically, understand this. If you venture to this place you WILL be eating food with LOTS of elderly people. The food isn't going to wow you by any stretch. Judging by the looks of people I saw here, nobody comes in here hungry anyway.

This place is a hidden gem. We were visiting from out of town and after reading reviews, we decided to get breakfast here. There is ample parking which was greatly appreciated. It’s located in a cute old-timey shopping district. Upon entering, we were impressed right away. I appreciated the cute nautical decor. It’s smaller but I think that adds to its ambiance because it makes it feel comfy and old-fashioned. The hostess greeted us kindly, seated us, and took our drink orders promptly. Our waitress was very polite and attentive. Their menu had a good variety of both hearty meals and healthier fare. We also felt that their prices were quite fair, especially with the quality and amount of food we received. Our food was prepared impressively fast once we ordered and we were happy with everything we received. Our entire plates were covered in food. My eggs benedict was cooked to perfection and the hollandaise sauce was excellent. It had a rich and creamy texture with the perfect amount of tang. Everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return the next time we are...
